VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Three young boys found to be in possession of an imitation handgun were cautioned and warned by police on Virgin Gorda on August 20, 2021.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, it was around 4:00pm on the day in question that a police officer observed three young boys on bicycles at Delta Gas Station in the Valley.

Glock 26 toy gun

One of the youngsters was seen carrying what appeared to be a firearm in his pocket.

The boys were approached by police after they left the gas station and what appeared to be a firearm was retrieved. It was; however, recognised it to be an imitation Glock 26 toy gun.

The boys were transported to the Virgin Gorda Police Station where they were identified and their parents summoned.

They were reportedly remorseful and apologetic after being informed of the repercussions of being in possession of an imitation firearm and how serious of an offence it is.

All parents were reportedly upset and spoke to their children in a very stern and corrective manner.

The 3 juveniles, in the presence of their parents, were cautioned and warned for the offence of Being Armed With an Offensive Weapon.

When you dealing with a problem attack it from the root not the branches. Why are those guns selling in public. Only a adult could have brought them in.

It is hard to identify a toy gun from the real thing. They are manufactured to be realistic. The officers done a good thing, rather the warning to the youths rather than the shooting of them.

Lord have mercy I wonder if we as adults are missing something. I can't understand for the life of me what more can we do for our children. There are so many parents who are trying their utmost best with their children yet still they continue to get caught up in so much ills in society. Now look toy gun I wonder what was their motive. Children for heaven sake do better stop making society look down on you and rise above these negative vibes. You all have a bright future don't waste your life away I'm begging you. Make your self proud your family proud and society proud. You can do it I know you can. Get up and dust off you all selves and you all will rise.

It is often touted that we are making progress but It seems to be in reverse. I can remember when it was every little boy's wish to receive a toy gun at Christmas. We would but the caps and play Cowboys and Indians. What fun we had as children in those days and no one grew up to be criminals and murderers. We also had the freedom to buy or rent BB and pellet guns to shoot birds and target practice with cans and bottles. No one grew up to be a killer or criminal. Most of us are the business and professional persons in this community. Why are we persecuting and incriminating our children today for things that their parents had perfect freedom to do as a child. Why are we robbing them of their childhood. Our society is sick and we want to blame everything on the youth when the truth is the youth are the victims of our twisted and corrupted practices. Who is responsible for the pandemic? Did it occur naturally or was it manufactured. Peter Tosh says everybody talking about crime tell me who are the criminals. Every Corona death is murder. This is what the police need to address worldwide. This is the Psycho-pathology that needs to be put in check while we abuse and kill our own children knowing that they are the victims of the situation. How and when will we break the spell of darkness that has our world in PRISON.

The stern warning is good but a small community service would have gorn a long way. Like reading to the elderly for one day couple of weekends.

Prison you sound like an education donkey. You are talking about apples and oranges. You had you toy guns and pillet guns. If you go to a store and point either of the two to anyone they would immediately recognize it as non lethal. We are talking here about an imitation firearm. It looks real and can put fear in people. Stop your cock and bull story.

Why not have these young guys spend a long week end in the alammer to get a flavor of where this kind of behaviour can lead?

@Caring, The boys didn't do anything wrong they had a toy gun they didn't try to use it in a crime so what community service you are talking about.

What is the actual law about imitation / toy guns? While I agree that it is dangerous for children to be in public with such things and the police did the correct thing about educating both the children and the parents, still interested in the legality of the situation.
The children did not use the toy to commit a crime...

@ @yea did you get the question wise one...Why is it legal to sell and buy but illegal to carry. Why is it that some seem to be above the law and others are targets. Equality and justice should be across the board not selective. These are the things that are producing criminals...your hypocritical excuses add fuel to the fire but you either don't get or give a damn.

I hope those guys were not using that gun to put fear in people and rob them, which is an offence.
