Julian Willock breaks silence; says he will have 'lots to say' after Festival
Mr Willock, however, said he will have a lot to say on a number of issues and will be making some announcements after the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival Celebration.
Media reports claim that Mr Willock is locked up for six weeks at Her Majesty’s Prison on the main island of Tortola for not showing up to court, even after he had submitted a doctor’s certificate advising the court he was ill.
Speaking exclusively to our newsroom today July 29, 2016, Mr Willock, when asked where he was at this moment, said he was at a breakfast meeting that started at 7:00 A.M. in Road Town.
Other freedom fighters jailed
The prominent businessman told our newsroom “if you look at history and our inspirational leaders who have helped shaped their countries and the world and who have fought for justice, bringing people together, away from divisive politics, and who were all imprisoned for political reasons like Nelson R. Mandela, a freedom fighter, and Dr Martin L. King Jr, I think the country will understand that one always has to make sacrifices for a cause.”
Mr Willock, who is the Chairman of Advance Marketing and Professional Services, the parent company of this news site, said “I encourage the public to go out and participate in the 2016 Festival whether you like the minister or not.”
No boycott of festival
“Many people have been coming up to me saying they are boycotting the festival over what Myron has done to it and his insult to Hon Fraser...I said to them this is about us not one politician.”
Mr Willock concluded by saying “we must change the dialogue where we bring the country together and stop the divisive politics, we must talk about the economic survival of our people and policies on that and how do we bring about reform to improve the way of life of our people…the judicial system needs reform…but I will stop there for now,” he said, before telling the reporter he was “demonstrating bad manners by being on the phone while at a meeting…”
Mr Willock also expressed thanks to all those persons who have been outpouring their love and support for him and who have always been there for him in so many ways.
