ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) will host the 2026 Junior and Senior BVI National Championships on June 19 and 20, 2026, at A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground.

The competition will feature the Virgin Islands’ (VI) top-tier professionals, rising stars and collegiate athletes as they battle for the title of the nation’s top athletes.

The athletes will compete in three categories: Male and Female U17, U20, and open.

Games days

On Friday, June 19, 2026, Open Male and Female Discus and Long Jump will be held.

An opening ceremony will start things off on Saturday, June 20, 2026, followed by various categories in the 110M and 100M Hurdles, Shot Put, 4X100 Relay, 400M, High Jump, 100M, 200M, and 4X400M.

The BVIAA said, “Come expecting the best of BVI's track and field stars to put on a show.  It's bound to be a fast weekend. See you on the track.”

Some big stars will be missing

It should be noted that a number of professional and collegiate athletes will not be present this year due to mandatory rest requirements and summer schedules. Such athletes include Adaejah T. Hodge and Kyron A. McMaster, OBE.

Additionally, the BVIAA said a concern this year for professional and collegiate athletes is the state of the track and as such consideration has been given for all athletes.

"Participation in the National Championships is mandatory for Senior athletes. For 2026, however, an exception is being granted in light of the present condition of the A.O. Shirley Grounds. Senior athletes are still expected to participate where reasonable," BVIAA stated.
