ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The boys and girls of Joyce Samuel Primary School (JSPS) successfully defended their crown on Wednesday March 14, 2012 and Althea Scatliffe Primary School (ASPS) ran, threw and jumped to a rip roaring success in the “A” Championship ahead of St Georges on Thursday March 13, 2012.

Large crowds celebrated both days under glorious sunshine on the A.O. Shirley Ground as the school teams battled each other across track and field events with a very competitive edge.

JSPS totaled 350 points to hold off the challenge from Alexandrina Maduro Primary School, who finished second with 313 points. Then came Ivan Dawson Primary with 272 and Leonora Delville Primary, who took fourth place with 242. Isabella Morris Primary School came in fifth with 204 points.

K'Cie Moses and Kyle Leader (JSPS) each finished with 38 points to share the Victor award as Z’Niah Corea claimed the Victrix award with 38 points.

In the Under 9 age group, Ivan Dawson’s Ronnayah Phillips and Shael Lavacia claimed top individual honours and in the Under 11’s Tashira Edwards of Ivan Dawson Primary and Leader won the division. Corea won the Under-12 Girls division with Malachi Thomas (JSPS) taking the Boy’s crown. In the under 15, Brittany Farrington (JSPS) won the Girls and Moses the Boys.

In the Division “A” Championship, ASPS easily won with a massive 506 points ahead of St Georges Primary who were a distant second with 339 points. Third was Enis Adams Primary with 314 and fourth Francis Lettsome Primary on 237. In fifth place was Begrado Flax Primary with 235, in sixth was Willard Wheatley on 215 and seventh Ebenezer Thomas Primary with 215 points.

The Under 9 Division, Champions were Kyron Walwyn (StG) and Abriel Magloire (ASPS).The under 11’s age group was won b y J’koy Smith ( ASPS) and Tianna Pickering (WWPS) and the under 13’s by Chaz Fahie (StG) and Zakaria Frett (ASPS).

The under 15 Boy’s crown went to Eduardo Vargas (StG) with Bria Walters and Jaqueela Smith sharing the Girl’s title.

When the sun had set and the dust settled the Division “A” Victor was shared between Chaz Fahie and J’koy Smith and Tianna Pickering was named as Victrix.

    When all these umbrellas of different shape, size and colors pop up how people suppose to see and enjoy the races buddy? All I want to know how much more years we have to go to the sport and sit in the hot sun or be blocked from enjoying the races
