GREENLAND, Tortola, VI – With one last look around the field Kevin Joseph, wielding his willow like a swashbuckling musketeer, smashed the last ball of a Super Over to the boundary fence against the Cavaliers on Sunday, June 1, 2014, and completed a remarkable victory for the Vikings C.C. in the BVICA/Digicel 20/20 Cricket Championship.

It was a fitting end to a tournament in front a large crowd that included former player and Umpire, the Opposition Leader, Hon. Ralph T. O'Neal OBE, Hon. Myron V. Walwyn, Minister for Education and Culture and Hon. Mark H. Vanterpool, Minister for Communications and Works.

Batting first, Cavaliers posted 236 for 8 from their 20 overs led by Kwesi Sinclair, who blasted 9 fours and 5 sixes for 93 runs. He shared a 99-run second wicket partnership with Dorian Auguste, who added 54 runs (8 fours and 2 sixes) before he was bowled by Vikings' captain, Richard Fredericks.

Cavaliers also saw contribution from young Mohamed Hassan who added 45 runs from 17 balls, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Bowling for Vikings, Fredericks, Winston Davis and Vaden Walker each ended with 2 wickets.

In reply, Vikings were 92 for 2 when they lost Fredericks for 36 runs. However, Kevin Joseph played another magical inning, leading Vikings with 57 runs (four fours and 6 sixes) from 27 balls.

Vikings needed 29 runs with 1 wicket in hand from the final over to win and Cavaliers turned to Julian Sinclair to close the game. A couple of wides and instinctive batting from Yudesh Shivprashad saw Vikings score 28 runs. Shivprashad sent a catch to Kwesi Sinclair on the final ball of the inning with the scores tied on 236.

The game came down to a super over where each team faced one over. Fredericks took the ball and restricted Cavaliers to 8 runs from the over. In reply, Kevin Joseph struck the final four as Vikings scored 10 runs from the super over to claim victory.

Joseph was adjudged Man of the Match of the finals. Vikings took home the winning cheque of $1,500, championship trophy and championship medals. Cavaliers won $1,000 and players received second place medals.
