Benjamin was the top student of the Class of 2025 and received trophies and awards, including the Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship for the Top Student.

In his welcome address on July 2, 2025, according to a press release from the Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship Committee, Johnney gave thanks to God, his family, teachers and friends.

Determination & optimism

He admonished his fellow classmates with the following words:

“As we step into the future, let us carry forward the lessons we’ve learnt and the values we’ve upheld. Let us approach new challenges with determination and optimism, knowing that we are prepared for what lies ahead.

“Today is not a farewell, but a celebration of the memories we’ve created and the future we’re about to embark upon. Let us step forward knowing we are ready to begin on our new journey.”

Johnney is a twelve-year-old who loves to play basketball, football (soccer) and track and field. He is the son of Ms Rosa Lina Reinoso Ramirez.

“We wish Johnney God’s blessings as he continues on the road of excellence,” the Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship Committee stated.

Johnney is the 24th recipient of the scholarship award.

The IDMS scholarship is in memory of the late legislator, Hon Ivan Dawson CBE, who on his passing, requested that in lieu of flowers, a scholarship be given to the top academic student of the Ivan Dawson Primary School and funds be raised to give it annually.
