And in almost identical fashion as the night before, the heavens would just allow for the performances to be completed before immediately opening up and sending patrons scampering away for shelter.
John Legend appeared on stage at 9:30 p.m. and delivered a mixture of old and new songs before closing his act at 10:45 p.m.
His songs “Ordinary People”, “Wake up Everybody”, “Save Room” and “Green Light” were especially well received by patrons. He also added a reggae flavour to his performance with “Every time she comes around” and “Redemption Song” made popular by the legendary Bob Marley.
In similar manner as Ali Campbell showed off his guitar skills, John Legend showed off his piano skills on stage.
At 10:30 p.m., the award winning artiste sang “Green Light”, which includes words like “am ready to go right now” and then exited the stage, however, the crowd began to call for him to return as they were not quite ready to go just yet.
John Legend did not disappoint as he returned and before delivering his final song “I will stay with you”, said his first experience in the Virgin Islands was a good one and said he hoped he is invited back to perform.
Even if patrons were not ready to leave after John Legend exited the stage they were given no choice as it began to rain heavily immediately after the show.
Departed they did but from all indications it seemed as though they did so satisfied after back to back concerts.
Prior to John Legend’s performance, the crowd was entertained by Blue Essence Band. The local band also received thumbs up from fans especially for their talents with the instruments.
The night before was spiced up by former lead vocalist of UB 40 Ali Campbell who delivered as promised a fun filled evening although patrons were left thirsty for more even as the heavens opened up immediately after his final and signature song “Red Red Wine”.

Monies raised will go towards the reconstruction of the Queen Elizabeth II Park, which was designated as a National Park in 1974 and is one of the oldest parks in the Virgin Islands.
