Jewelry store owner shot during daytime robbery on St. John

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. John, USVI — St. John Bracelet, a jewelry store located in Cruz Bay was hit by two unidentified males on Thursday around 1:53 p.m., according to the U.S.V.I. Police Department.

The VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau confirmed the incident, which left the store owner with a gunshot wound to the face.

The perpetrators, whose identities remain unknown, made away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry, according to the police report.

Emergency services were promptly alerted to the crime around 2:00 p.m., and the victim was subsequently rushed to Schneider Regional Medical Center for immediate medical attention.

Charges associated with this crime include first-degree robbery, third-degree assault, grand larceny, and simple assault. However, no arrests have been made as of now, and the bail amount remains undetermined.

The incident has shaken the local community with the Criminal Investigation Bureau actively investigating the crime and has appealed to the public for assistance.

    They shot him in the face meaning to kill him. That is attempted murder. Why did they have to shoot the man if they were aiming the gun at him? I hope the man will recover fully and hope it is not life-threatening. Catch these bastards ASAP!
