Only when there are visible loopholes do criminals attack. And the Pier Park has many. My concern is flor the children that traverse the Poer Park with parents who either don't care, or think it's a safe place, when it is not.

If you securing a place focus on where the millions $$$ are, your presence may deter, will deter, you may see something or someone looking suspicious, A Boat pulling up, docking, waiting, people getting out robbing then heading back to that Boat. Naah Now rumours have it..that the Boat came from Village cay Area, Rumours also have it that a lady working at a business in Pier Park..had survellance on security location while security was focusing on traffic, they get the green light....Rumours all ready start, they will get caught, someone start talking, rumours are not all lies, a little truth in them...By Thursday they will be caught..

This ia a failure of the police management / operational..Can't ignore that both the Police, Pier Park management and that security company whatever it name is they all are complicit in the security failure and in some way responsible for the robbery. When law enforcement and surveillance are lax, it can lead to a rise in crime, a loss of public trust, and the potential for abuse and misuse of power. Surveillance can be used to unfairly target and marginalized communities and persons.
Lax law enforcement can embolden criminals and create a perception that rules are not being enforced. This seemingly lack of regulation in the virgin islands can undermine civil liberties and lead to an erosion of public safety.

It's time BVI implement a certification policy for security and a minimum wage $11.00. Get good qualified security and pay them...This is a security failure, understand what a security function is, 1/ to be visible..2/ To Patrol..3/ to hear..4/ to see....5/ to observe...7/ to assessed ..8/ to deter....9/ to report...10/ Be a witness....If the situation is dangerous, don't engage, take cover, call the cops and observed in their hidden location... None of these 11 things took place by 2 or 3 security on duty at the time..To say this is not a security failure is wrong, Maybe the security are not well trained, or under paid and don't care,

It is time that our Police Force serve the people they sworn to protect and stop being reactive rather proactive.
These crimes have happened before yet on any given day, you could hardly see a Police Officer in Road Town or the wider community unless they are responding to a traffic collision or giving tickets. While these are necessary, it would appear that this is the only area of enforcement that is necessary.
Firstly, recruitment and training seem to be an issue. Why would you recruit a person in the Force when you are aware that that has a pre physical condition that would prevent them from carrying out duties aligned with Policing? Half of the persons who are recruited complain that they are unable to perform duties like simple foot patrol etc because of injuries sustained pre recruitment and have to be given light duties.
Others are ( I do not mean this as an insult) grossly overweight and there is no provision to help them.
On the other hand, how could you have Police Officers with the mostl minimal training and experience train recruits to be competent Police Officers?
The Police Force is at a stage where the only thing that matter is their own interest. Promotion and payday are at the top of their list.
The Police welfare department spend more time fighting for everything else other than looking out for the real things that would promote positive changes within the ranks. A gym would be a good start.
I could say a lot more like discipline within the ranks, ethical values and just a matter of doing what you are paid to to but it would require to.much writing.
Today we will see a troop parading on the Port and maybe...Just maybe in Road Town until things settles then it back to the barracks until the same things accur.
By the way. what is happening the the intelligence unit? Based on previous occurances,,. Why were they not able to predict or suspect a repeat of this crime?

The police marine base is on the other side of the harbor. How on earth did these guys get away? These criminals are making a mockery of the police force. His Excellency Governor Pruce needs to give account for the slackness that we are seeing in police response time. The marine police should always be in response mode. SMH
    • @The Boss (03/12/2025, 09:58) Like (4) Dislike (0) Reply
The question is, when were the police informed that a robbery was taking place or had taken place? From the moment those guys got off that boat masked someone who saw them should have been calling the police immediately instead of taking out their phones and filming (we know that's what everyone is going to do so at least one quick thinking person should have called). From the time someone heard the first shot, they should have been ducking for cover while calling the police. When the boat was leaving, someone should have been informing the police the robbers got away by boat, and what direction they were travelling in. Instead of everyone pulling out phones to film, at least one person, just one, should be calling the police to assist in capturing these brazen buffoons.
    • jah know (03/12/2025, 16:23) Like (2) Dislike (0) Reply
That's because we are a reactive BVI, not proactive. We shouldn't have marine police and customs just stationed at their base waiting for a call. They need to be actively on the water daily patrolling. We are a nautical territory, why we don't have our own coast guard safe guarding our borders?

Stop talking stupidness, if the UK was in charge of security in the BVI crime would not be so out of control. The UK have advance technology to help solve some of the crimes and unsolved crimes. We don’t have a forensic lab which is much needed.

I stop going to Pier Park because there are to many undesirables hanging around.

Did the level of security emboldened and boost the confidence, etc., of the robbers to attempt and pull off this brazen, bold, broad daylight, etc, robbery. Was the element of surprise, ie, broad daylight, mode of evasion, escape, etc., a factor in the robbery?

is it coincidence that this particular store are getting rob on a continuous basis. And the insurance paying out without a thorough investigation? one would have thought that after few robberies that the necessary security system would have been in place. This look to be too easy . Just a thought.

This is why we need police helicopters or something our police force needs to be reinforced they can’t rely on USVI for everything. The Uk trying to take over so desperately they could’ve been supplying us with the necessary tools (helicopters, officers etc) seems they want us to fail, typical colonisers, even worse our government needs to have more vision and action.

When people point guns as the robbers did they should be prepared to die. Armed security should have lit them up while boarding. This is a place where police pop out with vest after the fact.

Give the jewelry store owners license weapons or train security with guns at each jewelry store
