Jermaine A. Ricketts wins 2024 Trident Trust 5K- Carrot Bay Classic

CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- Chased by Julius Farley for much of the race, Jermaine A. Ricketts still comfortably won the Carrot Bay Classic on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The race was the second of the Trident Trust 5K Series and the second victory for Ricketts.

The race started adjacent to the Festival Grounds in Carrot Bay and headed East to a cone at the foot of Windy Hill, returned to pass the Festival Grounds, continued through Carrot Bay, over Sugar Mill Hill through Capoons/Apple Bay to a cone at the foot of Long Bay Hill and return to the finish line at Carrot Bay Festival Grounds.

Ricketts, who has been consistently getting the better of Farley, finished in a time of 18:10.03, while Farley clocked 18:38.5

Derek Rawlings, who competed in the 50-59 age category, was third overall in 19:47.

Francis wins for females

In the Female Category, Viki Francis ran unchallenged for the win in a time of 22:47.4. Second was Priya Mattu in 23:48.2.

Veteran road runner Rosmond Johnson, competing in the 50-59 age category, was third overall in 25:02.3.

The next race of the 5-race series is the Beef Island Beach Breeze at Long Bay beach, Beef Island on April 13, 2024.
