WICKHAM’S CAY II, Tortola, VI- Day 52 of the United Kingdom-sponsored Commission of Inquiry (CoI) held today, October 21, 2021, went off to an extremely slow start after controversial ex-Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert showed up for his second hearing seemingly unprepared.

Appearing remotely in the Zoom-style conference, it was clear Mr Jaspert had not adequately prepared for the inquiry as his digital documents were not in order and, in some cases, were not even downloaded.

Midway through the hearing on the topic of Crown Land, when pointed to a document by CoI Council to the Commission, Bilal M. Rawat, Jaspert had difficulties locating the document that is usually provided to witnesses in advance.

"Do you have the bundle in electronic or in hard copy?" Rawat asked.

Jaspert confirmed that he had an electronic copy and was directed to turn to a specific page; however, then indicated that it may be on the paper.

What followed was at least 7 minutes of awkward silence for Mr Jaspert to locate the documents, which he never did; however, the CoI team came to a compromise to email Mr Jaspert specific pages for reference.

Jaspert must have concluded, like many of us, that his UK people have already ruled so there was no need to bring documents to the witch-hunt.

The racist boar probably needed to buy time to rehash his lies. If his lips are moving, he is lying. These bastards think bl****$ are obligated to pay a subordinate roll to them and when Bl***$ stand up, they have a problem, conniving to ruin them. They also have a problem if Bl***$ are doing well and better than them. They lose their minds, wondering how is that possible. Jealousy.

I saw this coming 20 years ago and nobody I told it to would listen. I saw young people come down here from abroad under the pretense of vacation but said they actually were here to do a face-to-face interview after having sent their resume's down here already and had the jobs. I saw the influx of them rapidly coming on so-called vacations (interviews) and knew the plan. The plan was to set all of their people in place in the different sectors so this takeover and removing us would be easy. And here we are. No surprise to me while a lot of our people hid their heads under the ground.

some should recall a former DPP came via UK then came the RDA

Those thinking if white folks administer the territory it will be better can hold there breath

That makes no sense. if they already had the jobs they wouldn't neeed to have interviews! This is pure grassy knoll stuff. Paranoia runs deep. The truth is, people get jobs and keep them because they work hard.

I said the same thing when the story first came out, but VINO chose not to post it. This is so petty.

Most racists tend to operate undercover with their devious attitudes and behaviors, yet they yearn to promote their superiority. To support and justify their superiority, they have to devalue others. The enslavers lived with and justify the evil of slavery because they condition themselves to believe that Blacks were subhuman. And many still share this belief that slaves and their descendants came from a slave race; they were/are different. We must own our words and writings, things that flows from our inner being. Former Governor Jaspert may say for his need to get along that he is not racist but his words etc paint a different story.

For example, asked if slave descendants should receive reparation for the forced labour of their ancestors that built the UK economy, institutions and individual wealth, his response was a glib indifference to the idea, indicating that reparation was not on the UK’s agenda. And the FCO was silent on the issue, meaning that it also support not paying reparation. This attitude was disrespectful, disparaging and demeaning. The former governor also promoted retaining the names of pirates, murderers, racists etc on BVI landmarks for historical reasons. Here is a news flash. The purveyors of malicious and egregious acts cannot and should not be rewarded for the behaviour.

Moreover, it seems the former governor elevating to the status of governor of an OT inflated his ego. He was a big fish in a small pond and lord of all he survey. The BVI is promoted as a self-governing territory but the true power truly rests with the crown representative, the governor. As another blogger noted in another blogg, the former governor was a media hog, a media wh...e. Some truth to the observation. He seemed to like hear his voice and image on TV. The timing of the COI as he was exiting the territory seems as a vindictive get even with gift for the leader(s) of the local government.

The former governor seemingly didn’t recognize the leader of the local government not as an equal but a subordinate. And hated and decried being challenged with a different point of view by the local BVI government leader. He showed his disdain for any challenge, disagreements, taking it public. One has to wonder if it were the Falkland Islands, would it be a different attitude.

So if you think England should pay reparations for private citizens owning slaves, do you also think the africans from egypt should pay reparations to Nubians for enslaving them? Should the Romans and Saxons pay the English for enslaving them? Should the Fulanis from the African Interior pay their neigboring tribes reparations because they sold them to the coastal tribes of Ghana who then sold them for goods to the Europeans?

This is not a simplistic problem. It's been going on for thousands of years and all races have done it. It's abhorrent but clearly something that is not the fault of one race or country.

The former Governor hasn’t got any lawyer or even admin support to help him. He’s in a new role in the U.K. so did everything for himself.
Would it be better to pay significant taxpayer dollars for support or let him do his best?

@Socrates, looking time not seeing or hearing form you. Nonetheless, you are still in fine form waxing Socratically as you did on the Athen’s street corners. Blog deep, profound and real. Suspect you are going to get raked over hot coals or sandblasted for it. Stay strong old boy.
