HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- A new building has popped up in the Huntums Ghut area, noticeably adding to the skyline. The 'New View Inn' is the work and property of James Todman Construction Limited.

The new property was launched on July 6, 2022, during a short ceremony.

Recalling his days walking the same street where the inn is now located, Mr Todman thanked the Creator and said the area is special and significant for him, as it relates to now being able to launch the new property after having rough beginnings on the same street.

Project originally meant to be rooms - Mr Todman

“I give God the glory, when I purchased this property, I didn’t want any apartments… the apartment could not bring enough to make the payments back to the bank, so I wanted to do something else,” he added.

Mr Todman said while the final project is not all that he wanted to do, he decided to do rooms before settling on the final idea for an ‘inn’.

He also expressed gratitude to several persons and said he owed it to the community for getting him where he is today, as well as countless others who helped him on his journey.

Office Manager and daughter Janelle Todman, who indicated that she was the project lead, said the idea for the ‘New View Inn’ came as the company celebrated 35 years in the construction industry.

“I am proud to say that James Todman Construction is more than construction today… I would like to thank my parents for not only affording me this opportunity but for putting their faith and trust in me,” she said.

12 Rooms for long & short-term rentals

“We started from scratch. He told me he wanted me to work on this project with him, and I thought I was going to get a building with everything in it… I got a concrete structure, no walls, nothing in there.”

“It’s really something that I am proud about, that I can actually say that I built by myself from scratch and I’m really glad to see how it turned out,” she said.

Ms Todman said the New View Inn is one of the VI’s newest premier luxury short and long-term rental properties.

It provides 12 units with modern amenities to entertain staycations and tourists alike.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Transportation, Works, and Utilities, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) commended the proprietors for the establishment of their new business in the district.

Happy story Loving your child doesn't mean your child is capable...In this case Jamie knew his daughter was capable and ready. And she delivered...A lot of kids kill their parent businesses and their dreams because the parents was bias know their kids won't ready but kept forcing that square peg in that round hole until all came tumbling down...Such a good Story.

Nothing in this World is impossible, even the word says " I M POSSIBLE". You are proof that good things come to those who are willing to sacrifice to reach a worthwhile goal. May God continue to bless all that you do, you are a good human being in so many ways Jamessey. Congratulations and it's nice to see your daughter right by your side. Jeremiah 29:11 says it all, Blessings

I went to Guyana and stayed in a Hotel just as nice as this or nicer with a pool a bar and restaurant for $60.US a night that includes breakfast..I know James spent a whole lot to get this built cause everything in the BVI expensive bad down to the very nail. Only fair his price is up there close to the sky, he is got to make his money back.I..already booked to go away for vacation..Get value for my money, see some place different and have my privacy..

Who approved of this random inn in the middle of a neighborhood that's already struggling for parking?

You are certainly correct to state your views based on what you see and know, nothing wrong with that.

      However information creates awareness.

      Ignorance is a choice.

I suspect they have a vision for the area, and it begins with this project, other's will join in later and the so called getto idea will be erase. Let us help each other along the way.

While I would congratulate the business man for her success over the years I have to agree with you on the lack of parking.

It's funny though how depending on who you are, you can get approval with little to no parking then on the other hand you have someone wanting to build near the road side in the country and need only 2 parking spaces and can encounter the world of setbacks or a denied applications for no good reason at all.

The fact is, it is near the heart if town. Festival is upon us and it gives ppl the opportunity to pick another centralize area for room and board. I mean it right in a residential area, but so are the bars and every pop-up shop operating here on the bvi. I agree with the parking issue though...this place is so special.

Congratulations Todman family! People are so dangerous and willful!! Not a thing is wrong with the location. People will stay where they want. Who want go in town go in town. Who want stay in a residential area will do so. It's the same thing in Puerto Rico!! Many hotels, motels, inns in massively residential areas. Very near high ways and busy roads. Near gas stations and we go there and enjoy ourselves. But in Tortola we hide behind the blogs and talk fart all day long while smiling in the face of the same people we criticizing. Damn if you do and damn if you don't. The law of covetousness always amazes me.

I have wonder where the parking is. When I try to put another floor on my house town planning rejected my plan say I didn't have enough parking. But this man can build a hotel in a residential area with 6 parking spot infront and get approved.

Mr Todman how about a trade school to help the next generation, help the young people out. I'm sure you not hiring locals to run that Inn, so no local for the jobs. Or how about a little theme park/play zone to keep the entertainment money inside the country. Help the youth.

Not all Tolians jealous. It just that some make it while others believe it or not are struggling. No one loves to be struggling. I sure hope that those project homes on the Hill that Mr. Todman's company did go to the people who really need it and not those who really dont need it.
