ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Before they head off to college, the best 400m runners in the Virgin Islands met for a ‘Festival Last Lap’ at the A.O. Shirley Grounds on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

The athletes for the quarter-mile duel were Bruce Huggins, Wanyae Belle, Jaleel N. Croal, Vadley Sylvester, Tyreese James, Jahshani Farrington, and Adriano Gumbs.

Belle shot out of the blocks at the sound of the gun, with Gumbs and Sylvester in hot pursuit, and the others biding their time.

Just past 200 metres; however, Croal found another gear and was soon in the lead with 100 metres to go.

Croal, the 200m National Record holder and South Florida University athlete, maintained his kick while Sylvester faded badly, but Belle and Gumbs hung on for second and third, respectively, as they ran out of distance to catch Croal.

400M Last Lap Results:

Jaleel N. Croal 48.39s

Wanyae Belle 48.65s

Adriano Gumbs 48.79s

Jahshani Farrington 49.01s

Tyreese James 49.27

Bruce Huggins 50.65s

Vadley Sylvester 52.19s
