Public Relations Officer for the Reaching Out Foundation, Ms Kyla Kenisha Forbes, in a press release, said, “The Reaching Out Foundation has been working diligently to revitalise its foundation through the introduction of the “District Stop and Pledge” initiative. This initiative, which will take the form of a series of events, will allow us to give back to schools in the Territory, by way of giving students the essentials to strive.”
Ms Forbes explained that the initiative will take place in each electoral district starting with the Fourth Electoral District. The money raised from each district hosted initiative will be donated to the school/s in the respective districts.

She continued, “The Reaching Out Foundation acknowledges that the Territory is still recovering from the aftermaths of the 2017 hurricanes and it is our duty as a community to collectively assist the government in building back a better Virgin Islands. The Reaching Out Foundation has therefore decided to first focus our attention on the education system because we believe that in order to ensure a strong future for the Virgin Islands we must first empower our young people.”
Members of the public, schools, corporate and not-for-profit organisations are being invited to come out on March 21, 2020 at 5:30 am to participate in the run/walk initiative to raise funds for the Elmore Stoutt High School, Althea Scatliffe Primary and Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary Schools in the 4th district.
“The monies raised will be used to furnish and/or equip students and teachers with the relevant tools needed for a valuable education,” the press release stated.
Registration
Registration begins at The Breezeway of Hon Ralph T. O'Neal Administration Complex at 5:00am with a registration fee of $25. Registered participants will receive breakfast, and a support t-shirt and wrist band. Persons and organisations will also be able to make a monetary pledge towards our goal.
To register, persons can retrieve forms from Caribbean Insurers Limited. Registration can also take place on Eventbrite.com at “District Stop & Pledge” or on the day of the run at 5:00am. Corporate organisations interested in registering their staff can email reachoutbvi@gmail.com for corporate forms. Deadline for corporate registration is March 13, 2020.
Reaching Out Foundation
The Reaching Out Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, recently relaunched its organisation with refocused energy and community initiatives.
Newly elected President of the organisation, Ms Bria A. Smith said the organisation was originally launched in August 2015 by its Founder and Chairman, Mr Kevon S. Lettsome, but has since returned with new members and refocused energy geared towards making an impact in the community.
The organisation, consisting of a group of like-minded young adults in the Virgin Islands, performs in accordance with their mission, “to advocate on behalf of individuals and movements, one community at a time” and is led by its value system of Trust, Teamwork and Accountability.
The organisation’s board is as follows: Chairperson, Mr Kevon S. Lettsome; President, Ms Bria A. Smith; Vice-President, Mr Chezley L. D. Stoddard; Senior Group Advisor, Mr Mohab A. Tarabay; Secretary, Ms Chelsea A. Hodge; Public Relations Officer, Ms Kyla K. Forbes; and Assistant Public Relations Officer, Mr Shaquille S. Bell.
