‘It’s a novel idea!’- Hon Fraser endorses Willock’s back-to-school initiative

More than 85 school children in the Third District received backpacks equipped with books, pencils, erasers, markers, and rulers, to name a few items.
The event also included a pep talk by local daughter of the soil and Attorney Sonjah S. Smith, who encouraged the students to stay in school, and trivia questions for prizes.
Businessman Rajah A Smith of No Limit Construction donated a laptop to a student from District Three.
There was also music by Selector Taz, food provided by De La Santa Bakery and French Deli, along with two barbers providing complementary haircuts sponsored by Quality Construction.
Willock ‘ensuring there is a future for you’- Hon Fraser
“This is Mr Willock’s function. It’s his idea. It’s a novel idea,” Hon Fraser commented, and went on to express his appreciation for the uniqueness of the programme.
The Third District Representative, in endorsing the event, noted that the back-to-school initiative speaks to how observant Mr Willock is, “in what he thinks he could do to help parents in the district.”
According to Hon Fraser, even though the government schools are free, it is expensive for parents to send their children to school. According to him, his own experience as a parent has taught him that, and he is sure it is even more difficult for parents today.
He nevertheless implored the parents there to stop at nothing to give their children an education.
“I encourage parents to make sure their children are educated. It is one thing we have focused on as a race…to ensure that our children have a better future than we did, and one of the ways in doing that is to ensure that they get a good education.”
He said the education system, including at the tertiary level, is getting better and that there is a future… “and the efforts being put out by Mr Willock are ensuring there is a future for you,” Hon Fraser said before wishing the children well for the new school year.

Moreover. J. Willock, former Speaker of HoA, is not an elected member but is doing the work representing. He is practicing the important’ retail politics.’ Retail politics entails direct , eye ball to eye ball, pressing the flesh intwraction. In politics generally, if people are not feeling the action, it is not happening. Retail politics vs. wholesale politics..Technology results in people engaging on leaning on wholesale politics, not retail politics, to communicate with and teach people. Wholesale politics has its place but citizens elected members, people aspiring to become elected members,,etc, to meet them where they are. Pressing the flesh is priceless action. Education , ie, STEAM, etc., is vital to the continue growth and development, etc., of the territory. It affords citizens to fully partake in growth, development, civic action, etc. Planned ignorance by colonialists in the past limited full participation by citizens. MLK: “ Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance.” The VI community cannot continue to self-discriminate. J. Willock, Bravo Zulu!
