‘It was the right time to reintroduce BVI’ to India- Premier Wheatley
During the address, Premier Wheatley called the mission’s visit to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, a historic milestone for both nations, where the VI delegation will directly engage with India’s financial services professionals in real time.
“This occasion has been three years in the making, as the BVI-India relationship has grown significantly in the last years; it was the right time to reintroduce the BVI as a trusted partner to our Indian colleagues.”
India no stranger to VI’s financial products
Premier Wheatley reminded the gathering that the VI’s financial products have been used by Indian businesses since the early 2000s and remain a staple in the industry. The result of this, he said, was helping to facilitate India’s early investment expansion into Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the developing world.
He added that those same investments allowed India to access capital, technology, and technical expertise reinvested into the subcontinent.
“Within a decade, BVI alone accounted for some 17 per cent of India’s outward investment flows. So in truth, we are no strangers to the market, but today, re-engaging with you is a reminder of the value BVI brings to India’s investment system.”
The Mumbai Roadshow is the third of the trade mission’s four-city tour.
