ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Attendees complied with the theme “A Night of Intrigue – A Black and White Masquerade Ball” at the Callaloo, Prospect Reef last evening, February 25, 2012 as Customs officers and guests danced the night away at the10th annual Customs Ball.

Virgin Islands News Online's roving camera captured the evening that saw entertainment provided by The Razor Blades, DJ Bertrum and Cool Session Brass out of St. John.

Prior to the intriguing, Commissioner of Customs had stated that, “This year’s event is not only being held to recognise 10 years of the annual ball, but also to maintain good relations with the public we proudly serve.”

The ball is usually held in January at the end of Customs Week, but because it’s the 10th year the Department decided to make it special. We took a little more time to plan to ensure that all attendees have an unforgettable night.”

As part of the week of activities for Customs Week, which was celebrated from January 21 through January 28, the department conducted its regular school visits, held a church service and social night under the theme “Borders Divide, Customs Connects Through Compliance”.

Her Majesty’s Customs, included in the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, is charged with the responsibility to safeguard the well-being and security of the Territory by facilitating legitimate trade, enforcing import and export regulations and conducting covert and overt surveillance of the Territory’s waters.
