BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- In response to allegations that a certain political party has been offering persons handsome packages to run for office on its party ticket, as well as for their votes, talk show host Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline has advised such potential candidates to ensure they get a notarised agreement.

“You got people out here, offering people packages…because it looks like ya’ll think this country is for sale,” Skelton-Cline stated on his show Honestly Speaking on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, and then advised those who are taking these deals, if true, to ensure they have their backs covered.

“Make sure number 1: you have a signed agreement, notarised by a real Notary and a seal of the company’s document, who is guaranteeing your salary, who is making you all these promises.”

He said these people will end up in the Magistrate’s Court seeking to get compensated for what they were promised.

It was Bishop John I. Cline who recently stated that he was contacted by persons who informed him they have been offered things in exchange for their votes.

‘It already shows that you can be bought’

Meanwhile, Skelton-Cline also questioned the ethics of some people. “This country is not for sale, and my brother and sister, if it is, for you to go and offer yourself for elected services, you got to be prepackaged; it already shows that you can be bought.”

He asked how one can expect to be made a fiduciary of the Virgin Islands in that case.

“Somebody needs to have honest conversations with you. This country should not have to carry bags that it did not pack,” Skelton-Cline stated.
