PLYMOUTH, UK- A massive £160m cocaine haul has been busted off Plymouth Coast, South-West England as part of an operation led by the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) and supported by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Border Force.

The bust comes less than a year from a bust in the VI, where controversial ex-Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert had labeled the territory as corrupt following the discovery of US $250m worth of cocaine on Tortola in early November 2020.

Drugs weighing 2,000kg busted

The BBC reports that six men including a British citizen were arrested after authorities seized more than two tonnes (2,000kg) of cocaine with an estimated street value of about £160m on Friday, September 10, 2021.

The group were sailing in the Jamaican-flagged Kahu when they were intercepted 80 miles off the coast, in international waters north of Guernsey, and boarded by specialist Border Force and NCA officers.

Deputy director of the operations Matt Horne said, "There's no doubt these drugs would have been sold on into communities across the UK in such ways as county lines fuelling more crime and misery.

"Organised crime groups (OCG) are motivated by money. The deprivation of these drugs will smash a hole in the OCG's plans and ability to operate," he said.

History of large drug busts!

The UK, no stranger to massive drug busts, had on Sunday, February 14, 2021, seized cocaine worth up to £184 million after it was imported from Colombia in a consignment of bananas and in late November 2020, UK authorities had busted another £100 million cocaine haul found hidden in a shipment of banana pulp in Essex.

Meanwhile, despite having massive drug busts, the same UK government and VI’s Ex-governor Jaspert had labeled the Virgin Islands as having systematic corruption after the territory's drug bust in November 2020 but has never labeled themselves as corrupt.

Many have now seen it as a scheme to call a UK-sponsored Commission of Inquiry in January 2021, mere days after Governor Jaspert demitted the Governor’s Office in the VI.

VI labeled corrupt

Political pundits had speculated that the coordinated publishing of VI’s drug busts was also part of attempts to tarnish the reputation of the territory on the international scene and to get UK Government and public support to intervene in the governing affairs of the VI.

Social commentators had also suggested that the main reason behind the CoI is because the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government of Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has been pushing a narrative of independence at a time when the territory is due for constitutional review and the CoI is a tool to keep the colonialist status quo.

There are more than one CoI teams in the UK presently probing into corruption in that country. We are an overseas torritory of the UK. Why hate the white skin man that came here to help stop the black skin man from I'll treating us further? Why? Why live their money, and others preferred material goodies, and other benefits, such as Olympics medals, etc., but hate their guts. Why go after the Doctorate degree, Master degree, and others, but still hate them.
I am a native black skin man, but I hate to the core this unjust black rasist, so-called Black livesMatters thing, that doesn't accept that white lives equally matters.
My people, in the name God, the Almighty One, stop fueling hate against your fellow humans that God have Created.
Have you soon forgotten, or do you not know, that in World War 2 approximately 98% of the those that died in defence of freedom were white skin people, including civilians. Their sacrifice benefit us.
The CoI probing intocorruption by our political leaders and others are justified. Stop rocking a sinking ship.
Stop attacking those that you cannot prevailed against. Stop sowing discord among us. If you are not comfortable with the CoI probing of mismanagement, that give you and or any other person the right to spill your venomous have against other people of a different skin colour. Does it? No! It doesn't.

This is why we should always have a media budget to defend ourselves against UK propaganda. The UK is also responsible for the VI's marine security and therefore must share blame with the VI for any major marine drug trafficking in VI's waters.

We want many tourists to come to our country and spend huge sums of money. We also go to the banks and loan large and small amount of money. The US dollars, the British Pound, and the Euro are currencies of the white ethnic people. We lust after their money. The UK send soldiers to help us after Erma badly ragged us. Thank God for the WHITE SKIN MAN. If not many BLACK SKIN, and BROWN SKIN MEN may have steal ever our underwear. Have you soon forgotten?
  • @ Imperfect servant of God:Are you ignorant of this fact? (11/09/2021, 19:54) Like (2) Dislike (4) Reply
You need to take a history lesson. Let’s start here
“ Why hate the white skin man that came here to help stop the black skin man from I'll treating us further?”

#1. Hate aside no one & no European power “came here to help stop the black skin man from ill treating us”.

Our current situation is a product of the transatlantic slave trade, its profits, European empires colonizing the new world & decimation of the native Americans.

#2 people of all races have been involved with scholarly, skilled & higher learning from the start of written history. From the Ancient Egyptians to the Greeks, Chinese, Indians, Aztecs and on.

It is very ignorant to hold involvement in higher learning, sports, luxury & the pursuit of knowledge to belong of any one race.

#3. During World War Two persons of color in America were subject to racial segregation, they were mostly not wanted. How do you think that felt?

The self hate is strong in you. As a sensible person will understand that modern Americans saying Black Lives Matter in the face of public execution by police does not equate to white lives being less than other lives.

Not sure what this has to do with corruption in UK. It was a Jamaican registered yacht sailing from the Caribbean, with a crew of one Brit and five Nicaraguans. Help me out here.

Because the yacht was registered in Jamaica does not signify that the owner is Jamaican. A UK national can register a yacht in Jamaica. You all always want us to take the blame for every body else crime.

All over the over globe, among advanced, developing and emerging countries and rich and poor countries, the drug trade and use is a social problem, a menace. It is a social problem in both the UK and in the BVI. There are no Pilates in the game. The UK and Britons have always viewed and treated people in the colonies as different and not as equals. The primary interest in the colonies was mercantilism. There was little to no interest in the social and economic development of the colonies and people. The interest was in producing and shipping commodities to the UK for developing and sustaining the UK’s economy. The UK is a relatively resource-poor country and depended heavily on commodities to fuel its economy and build wealth. Further, the local resources in the territory was not for manufacturing in the colonies to put locals to work.

Moreover, for example, in the Caribbean region, the UK government didn’t take a primary interest in providing at least basic education for locals; it was churches that took the lead in providing basic education—Methodists and Anglicans. However, there was no lack of interest in building jails to lock up the beasts. Every Anglophone country has or has had a Her Majesty’s Prison. There may be a Her Majesty’s Secondary School but I’m still searching for one. Undoubtedly, there is definitely a double standard and much hypocrisy from the UK in regards to its territories. It still, for the most part, seem to have a problem with Britons and territories’ residents being equals.

Further, there seems to be at least, perhaps, a tinge of jealousy in regards to how some residents in the territories live relative to how some Britons live. Perhaps, this may have a racial component to it. Black people must stay in their places, stay in their lanes. They must not have audacity and get so uppity to think that they can live at the same standards as people in the supposed Mother country.

@Ne Timeas, a whole lot of rambling senseless, nonsense about nothing. Here is a news flash. Britannia and British Empire ruled the waves. Britain is small but powerful. The colonies needed Britain to bring them into civilization; the UK neither did nor needs them. Were it not for the UK to bring them out the shadows where would these hand to mouth little dots be? What commodities did these poverty stricken places have to build the UK economy and build wealth. Dr. Eric Williams in Capitalism and Slavery had his wires crossed and facts misplaced.
