‘Is NDP trying to steal next election?’ – Caller to VIP show

“It is my understanding that the NDP wants to use voting machines in the next general elections. Do you view this as an attempt to steal the elections?” the caller asked the panel during the show aired on ZBVI 780 AM last night December 10, 2014.
In response, Chairman of the VIP Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) said that as far as he knows there is no intention of introducing voting machines.
“I know that there was a conference in Canada to look at the concept of voting,” he said.
“It is our firm belief that as far as the process of voting is concerned there should be no change for the elections except maybe for the voter registration card which has been long in coming and I don’t think it is any closer to becoming a reality than it was in 2011,” he said.
“But tinkering with the process of voting is not something that we would agree to. We are not going to accept it," he said.
"So voting machines…you term it as an attempt to steal the elections, I won’t go that far but I think it should stay the way it is until further development has come acceptable to the elected members,” Hon Fraser said.
