Is BVIHSA CEO Darlene A. Carty-Baptiste In or Out @ end of contract?

- post advertised since February even though her contract does not end until September 2016
Many eyebrows were raised when the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) started advertising the post of Chief Executive Officer from February 2016 when in fact the post does not become vacant until September 2016, some 6 months away. The current holder of the post is United States Virgin Islands (USVI) resident Mrs Darlene A. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Many eyebrows were raised when the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) started advertising the post of Chief Executive Officer from February 2016 when in fact the post does not become vacant until September 2016, some 6 months away.

The current holder of the post is United States Virgin Islands (USVI) resident Mrs Darlene A. Carty-Baptiste, who is on her second two-year contract with the Health Services Authority of the Virgin Islands.

While officials from the BVI Health Services Authority Board are tight-lipped over the issue, our usual senior National Democratic Party (NDP) sources said no decision has been made either way about the future of Mrs Carty-Baptiste.

A senior NDP member told our newsroom last night, March 3, 2016 that there was a desire to get a head start on this as Mrs Carty-Baptiste also “wanted to look at her options.”

When asked if they think there are locals who can do the job, the source said “of course.” It is unclear whether the Board, the staff and the public are pleased with Mrs Carty-Baptiste’s tenure as the CEO of the BVI Health Services Authority.

Hospital Services poor?

The hospital services have come under fire for the length of time to get service, how long it takes for the ambulance to arrive at a scene of an incident, and the huge hospital bills the pubic continue to be burden with even after the National Health Insurance scheme.

There is also the vexing issue where many locals feel shut out from being hired at the BVI Hospital Services Authority while non-nationals are easily hired. It is reported that when locals are hired they are stuck in the lower level paying jobs such as security and housekeeping.

Many local doctors allegedly complain about how they are being treated and their negative experiences at the medical facility.

Job not for Skelton-Cline!

The NDP source also rejected the notion that former BVI Ports Authority boss, Claude O. Skelton-Cline is tipped for the BVI Health Services Authority CEO post. “That is news to me, but I doubt that,” the source said.

Mr Skelton-Cline is now in a bitter lawsuit with the NDP government over his non-renewal of contract and is seeking first a Judicial Review.

Our newsroom will be the first to bring more information on the selection of the CEO for the BVI Health Services Authority.

She needs to GO! Increase hospital bills as though we in the USA. She needs to GO cause the BVI government only supports their friends of Anguilla.

They need to give the job to Dr. Hannibal he did a good job while he was acting hospital director the hospital staff felt they hospital board short changed him.... He was well liked and respected for his ability and effectiveness. We say Hannibal for CEO. Son of the soil.

@ N1H1; be careful with that son-of-soil conversation because some among us get very upset when that level of conversation comes up: when that level conversation pop up some think the VI Lander is look for entitlement but I personally know of VI Landers that are duly qualified to fill that post..... but don't mind the noise Hannibal will get the job done once given the opportunity NOT a chance the opportunity....

These people live in America for so long coming here with that US hussling, selfish and loud know it all mentality. The port is a perfect example. The whole HSA board need changing. Get real honest, humble and genuine locals. We have people like Gracia Wheatley. Helen Frett. Clyde Lettsome. Rosey Crandals. Plus others. We have a better pool to pull from.
