International Motors buys Tola Mitsubishi
Discussing the acquisition, Director of IML Peter Sorrentino said, "The owner of Tola Mitsubishi was keen for the business to stay in local hands and to ensure that all Mitsubishi owners would receive continued good service and parts availability. We are pleased to be in a position to make this acquisition and tick those boxes.”
IML was established in 1976 and has been serving the BVI for over 42 years from its location in Road Town. It is the BVI dealer for Suzuki, KIA, Mazda, and JEEP. The purchase of Tola Mitsubishi adds Mitsubishi to its portfolio.
Over the coming months the management of IML will be spreading their business operations between the two locations to improve efficiency and customer service in a number of areas. "We have outgrown Road Town and our work and storage space has become too crowded,” continued Sorrentino. "With this new location we will be able to reorganise our operation and move elements of it to Fish Bay. This will improve turnaround time for repairs and reduce the waiting time for vehicle servicing for example.”
International Car Rentals, IML’s sister company, will add Mitsubishis to the International Car Rentals fleet and eventually operate from both locations. “As BVIslanders we’re committed to the continued economic growth and success of this country,” Sorrentino continued. "This purchase is a sign of our commitment and confidence in the future of the British Virgin Islands.”
IML currently employs 30 people and the acquisition takes that number to 60.
