ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The highly anticipated Industrial Volleyball League organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) serves off today, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, with 4 games at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

Action starts at 6:30 PM with two games being played simultaneously.

One Mart Super Store will take on SDA Family Matters in a Zone B clash while Game On and Republic Bank Blue Thunders will go head to head in Zone A play.

Republic Bank Blue were the finalists in Zone B last year but have now been elevated to Zone A.

From 7:30 PM, RTW Blazers will face BVITB The Pillars in Zone B and ESHS Rams will lock horns with TMF Bombers in Zone A.

Teams involved

17 teams are taking part this year in the DYAS Industrial Volleyball League.

The teams are split into two zones.

Zone A comprises Game On, ESHS Rams, Harney’s Hittas, BVIEC Shockers, One Mart Yachting Provisioning, RVIP Defenders, TMF Bombers, Republic Bank Blue Thunders and ATU Serve-vivors.

Notably missing this year are last year’s Zone A champions, Moorings Sea Rangers.

Zone B comprises SDA Family Matters, One Mart Superstore, RTW Blazers, Cash It, Suzuki Marines, Flow, Trident Block Party, and BVITB The Pillers.

Last year’s Zone B champs ATU Serve-vivors are now in Zone A.

Games are being played every Tuesday and Thursday at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

Among the various rules to allow for balanced competition, teams must have at least two females on the court at all times and males can only spike with their non-dominant hand. Additionally, a male and a female must touch the ball if there is more than one touch on the ball.
