Increased fever & respiratory issues in VI linked to COVID-19 virus- Health Ministry

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health and Social Development is alerting of an increase in reports of fever and respiratory syndromes in the territory.

The Unit has also noted that the increased reports of cases is linked to an increase in cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

“The Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has noticed a significant increase in reports of Fever and Respiratory syndromes in both the over and under five (5) age groups. We are above the threshold, placing the Territory firmly in the Danger/ High Alert zone,” the Unit alerted healthcare providers on May 29, 2024.

“Last week’s increase is associated with an increase of SARS-CoV-2 cases, which represent approximately fifty-one percent (51%) of Fever and Respiratory reports. At present, cases have reported only mild presentations,” the Unit continued.

‘Remain vigilant’

The public has been urged to remain vigilant so as to quickly respond and mitigate transmission within the Territory.

The Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has also asked healthcare providers to conduct the necessary diagnostic tests on patients presenting with ILI and ARI symptoms, influenza, Covid-19 and dengue.

“This allows us to better understand what is circulating in the British Virgin Islands, so that we can educate and protect the public,” the Unit stated.

Mask wearing encouraged

Healthcare providers have also been advised to “re-implement” the necessary prevention and control measures at their facility to protect staff. This includes mask-wearing, and proper hand and respiratory hygiene practices.

“Remind patients of the prevention and control measures to protect themselves, e.g., proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette,” healthcare providers were told.

Additionally, the Unit urged healthcare providers to send “accurate and complete” reports on time.

    This is not a good look for clinicians. This is a confidential document for medical proviers and the like and whoever released this to the general public should be ASHAMED. People are still traumatized from Covid and releasing this without context is sure to cause panic in the community. I am quite sure an official release was pending.

    What is the number for health cause these providers wunna have here aint providing. They only come to rape the system and provide poor care.

    I went to one 2 weeks ago and he necer tested me. He 'think I have the flu'. How it going round. Man I started to feel worst, high high fever and bad weakness, so i went to a different doctor and it come bk positive for Covid. I need to sue cause flu normal, we dont die from that

      I am so sorry. That is slackness. I think Health needs to start considering penalizing these so called doctors they have here. If they are being told to test and report they're not, how can they truly know what to treat you for? And how will Health know what is happening so that they can make us aware?

      Not everybody in government corrupt. Don’t paint everyone with the same brush. We have people here who trying their best to do right and keep the country afloat despite the jokers wunna elect as Ministers and PS.

      If the providers don’t submit the “accurate” reports, how will we know what’s going around? How can they trace? We could be in the middle of a big outbreak and wouldn’t know cause they won’t submit the information.

    Wake up people. The government is spraying everyone worldwide with chemicals for the depopulation Agenda 21. I warned you all about this moment here years ago.     When weed, ganja, cannabis, marijuana a healing herb is not legal despite all the science, tests & biased attempts to find negatives to justify caging people over it, when that which is proven good is not accepted. When that which will help many & causes no fatality is deemed illegal then you have to understand even the medical world runs on emotion and ignorance.

    That was Covid-19. A deadly virus mixed with medical emotion & hysterical ignorance on a massive global scale. Similar to president Nixon convicting & convincing the world to lock people up for all 'drugs' except alcohol, caffeine & tobacco. It was never done before on such a scale.

    Now we have drug cartels all over the globe when those substances were virtually worthless before. Hell the hippies were giving out free 'drugs'.

    A Doctor here have given me conflicting medication while joking like his job is easy. But guess what I did my own research on what he gave me and found out the two medications should not be used together.

    To explain to a doctor the benefits of cannabis in this day & age is shameful. Shameful because they were completely ignorant, hadnt even tried to stay current with one of the most tested & medically useful plants known to man.

    ONLY dumb people wear mask. The mask is a depopulation method. It's called slow death by chemicals. You're not supposed to inhale your waste which is your stink breathe with that mask on.
