POND BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Director of Tourism at the BVI Tourist Board, Clive L. McCoy has called the 2023 Christmas in July held at Pond Bay, Virgin Gorda, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, a massive success and one that was incident free.

Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), he said, “From all accounts, it was very successful, it was incident free, and just from chatting from persons on the beach, even though it was a little hot, everyone seemed to have an amazing time”

Mr McCoy added that preliminary assessment from his point of view shows that the event may have been smaller, compared to last year, but considering how hot it how was, that was fine. Coming back from Virgin Gorda later that day, I saw many boats going up that afternoon.

“This is becoming a national event in the British Virgin Islands and we can’t wait to partner with Wally Castro Marine, to put on similar events in the territory and even make Christmas in July a bigger event for the territory,” he said.

Final headcount for patrons to come

When asked about why the event appeared to have fewer persons than last year, Mr McCoy said that it was just the perception; however, a more detailed review will come of the overall event.

“I haven't gotten the numbers yet, it's just from my visual… and I wasn't there all day, I went in for an hour or so but what I would like to do is thank the various government agencies that were so keen on helping us put this on,” he said.

Mr McCoy thanked the Customs and Immigration departments, the BVI Ports Authority the Police and others, including the BVI Health Services Authority and the BVI Red Cross for their contribution to the success of the event.

He said the staff of the BVI Tourist Board "really put their best foot forward" to ensure things went according to plan.

Christmas in July is an annual event in the VI where boaters from Puerto Rico and other nearby areas unite in the islands for a week of festivities. It is a tradition that started in 2007 and has grown to attract thousands of visitors each year.

This event the Tourism board barely have anything to do with. These Rico people been doing this event for many many years and they do it on their own out of Rico. Tourism dont do a thing really do he can’t take credit for nothing. But look how BVI people took over the people free event that was supposed to be for Rico people only. Lmbo. Mind they cancel it one of these years or take it some place else.

This is awesome but these positive stories do not get much comments from the BVI haters who only blog alot of foolishness when something negative happens to the BVI or its people.

Good job Torist Board. Keep moving forward and don't mind the evil minded know it all former lady who was over tourist board that live VG. She feels only she knows about tourism when in fact she mashed it up fine. Her tenure needs to be properly audited and you all will see her for who she really is and not who she is trying to portray.

HOPEFULLY ALL THE WANNABE GANGSTERS HAVE TAKEN OUT EACHOTHER , OR UP BALO / AND LETS PRAY WE HAVE A PEACEFUL AND ENJOYABLE FESTIVAL AS IT USED TO BE , BEFORE THE GUNDERLEROES TURNED THE COUNTRY INTO THE KILLING FIELDS , WITH THEIR GUNS / DRUGS / MURDERS AND CORRUPTION ETC . AND THE PEOPLE WHO IN CHARGE CAN COME TOGETHER AND CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE OF HARMONY AMONGST EACHOTHER AS HUMAN BEINGS AND NOT ANIMALISTIC PREDATORS
