ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Virgin Islands is not at a standstill where infrastructural works are concerned. In fact, work continues across the territory, adding much-needed stimulus to the local economy while upgrading the infrastructure in the Virgin Islands ahead of the return of cruise tourism and the reopening of the seaports to international operations.

One of the many works taking place is the restructuring of the parking lot opposite Pusser’s on Waterfront Drive in the heart of Road Town.

Improved parking lot reopens Monday!

According to Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), who thanked the public for their patience, work on the parking lot started last weekend and entails digging out the failed areas, compacting those areas with new fill material, and now overlaying of asphalt for a new surface.

“Users of the parking lot will now have a most smooth surface devoid of holes, dips and puddles to comfortably utilise in BVILOVE. We continue to thank the people of the Virgin Islands for giving us the opportunity to serve you in every district --- from one to nine. We're in this together,” Hon Rymer wrote on his Facebook page on March 24, 2021.

Meanwhile, Government notified today, March 25, 2021, that the parking lot will reopen to the public on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Currently, works are being carried out on four major roadways in the VI – the Ridge Road from Hope Hill to Little Dix Road; Fort Hill above Bob’s Gas station; Great Mountain Road; and Ballast Bay.

It's the roads stupid! They have totally destroyed my vehicle i have for just three months. Parking lots are secondary if your vehicle is useless an can't afford front end repairs.

All that work and in the rear is still dirt and the first shower of rain left the water sitting in large pools. I need to stop paying taxes cause I'm not seeing a return on my investments.
