‘I’ll soon announce more initiatives for 1st District’ – Hon Andrew A. Fahie

He made this statement while giving a comment to this news site over the weekend regarding issues within the First District.
“In the very near future I will be announcing more initiatives that will significantly assist in the development of the people of the First District especially our First District youth and even the rest of the Virgin Islands,” he disclosed.
Honourable Fahie said that with the little resources afforded to the district he will continue to use when he can with it but will seek Government’s aid for the larger capital projects.
“The things to improve the First District and the people that don’t require significant Central Government's funding I will continue to do while continuing to lobby the Ministers of Government to secure funding for the many needed Capital/Development projects in the First District,” he said.
He mentioned such works included the completion of the Capoons Bay drainage project, repairs to the Capoons Bay Clinic, cutting and constructing of public roads in the hills of Carrot Bay, cleaning of ghuts in Carrot Bay and the entire First District, fixing of the Towers Dock, completion of sidewalk project in the district among many others.
Honourable Fahie has faced flak recently for what people called his ‘selling out and jumping ship’ insinuating that he had joined forces with the other side.
The First District Representative has not been camera shy about his several meetings with various Ministers of Government, often sending around those photographs to the media himself following the said meetings.
The claim of selling out was fuelled by already soured relations between the two members of the Opposition, Honourable Fahie and Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) who engaged in a public spat for the post of Leader of the Opposition which eventually was given to Honourable Fraser by Governor John S. Duncan OBE.
The Opposition pair has been accused of being silent on national public interest issues such as the National Health Insurance (NHI) which has been occupying the headlines over the past few weeks.
