'If I were to seek re-election it would be under VIP'- Hon Malone

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Despite crossing the floor, leaving the Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) led Government of National Unity, Opposition Member, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) says if he is to run for office once more it would be on the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) slate.

“If I were to seek re-election, it would be on the only under one banner, the Virgin Islands Party banner,” he told ‘The Narrative’ talk show host Calistra Farrier during the August 11, 2022, episode of the show.

“And I think that is a known fact here in the Virgin Islands, I have known no other banner [and] I seek to find [out] about no other banner,” Hon Malone said while noting the years the VIP has been in existence.

On June 15, 2022, Hon Malone; who served as the former Minister for Health and Social Development, announced he had crossed the floor to the Opposition.

Resignation from Coalition Gov't

Malone had been relegated to a government backbencher with the formation of the National Unity Government after former Opposition Leader, Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) took up the role of Minister for Health and Social Development.

Hon Malone said it was in the best interest of himself and the territory, based on his views that may conflict with that of the Unity Government, that he resigns from the coalition government.

During ‘The Narrative’, Hon Malone added; however, that he is more interested in the one Virgin Islands Agenda in terms of "making it right" so that the generations to come would not look back at history and see that legislators in the current session of the HoA were the ones who caused the suspension of the local constitution.

The current VI Opposition is made up of only Hon Malone and Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3), the latter serving as Leader of the Opposition.

I know that we all would like things to great in the BVI. But based on his statement on the one virgini stands agenda, on the suspension of the constitution, it seems that he wants the Government to fail. Why my brother? Why?

How about somebody/anybody running for COUNTRY for a change Buddy? I don't think you have any chances of being re-elected though. AND You All already don't want to state your interests which I find to be very SUSPECT.

when elections come back-some might be stunned because the rules are going to change. British Nationals residing this British Overseas Territory will run for office and they will be elected

While some sitting around the microphones speaking about who indigenous and who not indigenous the system has changed and not very much we can do about it

There is a very fine line between fact and fiction so be wize and keep it real

Why is carvin saying , if he should run in an election it will have to be under the vi banner?
Hear this, and try to understand me..:
Please show me any founding member of the vi party who is alive ,willing and able to stand up or stand out truly viable and visible but having the leadership qualities to make this rebound. Let's call a spade for what it is,.
All of them are dead, gone, and now forgotten. So let the name find its resting place somewhere in one of the public cemeteries with a tomb stone saying gone are the days when we did whatever we wanted, and now it's up to you to pay the consequences. Then and only then, we may be able to rest in peace.

Look around the Caribbean on recently held elections...St. Lucia , Grenada, St Kitts had a New Leader in the wait and in line that the people love...Here in the BVI we have none..Every talks about change but from who to who.. Before we talk about change let us identify the replacement...If we continue to move blindly and unwise we may end up with the X-NDP. X-#7 Rep as Premier. Imagine that? .
