THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI – Former Speaker of the House of Assembly and businessman Mr Julian Willock has confirmed that he does not intend to run against Third District Representative and Deputy Premier Hon Julian Fraser RA in the upcoming elections.

Speculation had been circulating among Virgin Islanders regarding Mr Willock's potential candidacy in the next general elections. However, in an interview with TOO INQUISITIVE in Anegada on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Mr Willock stated, “I would say to you that I would not run against Honourable Fraser.”

However, he did not rule out the fact that he will run for office, just not against Hon Julian Fraser.

Mr Willock and his Third District committee have organised numerous activities aimed at empowering residents of District Three over the years. These initiatives include hosting job fairs that have helped residents find employment and the annual donation of school bags and books to children in the district.

5-year strategic plan

During the interview, the former Speaker stated that he and his committee have developed a five-year strategic plan. This plan includes the reconstruction of the Ellis Thomas Downs (formerly known as the Little 'A' Racetrack), a vision to develop the Sea Cows Bay Harbour, improvements to infrastructure in District Three, the establishment of a new water plant, road reconstruction, and the construction of a sewage treatment plant.

Additionally, the plan aims to provide scholarships for young people, assist residents in obtaining trade licenses, support individuals in acquiring land, and create job opportunities for the community.

Mr Willock, known as "a man who gets things done", is a fourth-generation indigenous Virgin Islander. He holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Master’s Degree in Economics and Political Science. He also holds a certificate in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies and has one year of graduate law school.
