‘I will continue to work hard, push myself to new limits’- Kyron A. McMaster OBE



McMaster, although struggling with an injury, still managed to run 47.79 seconds for 5th place in the Men’s 400m Hurdles Final at Stade de France on August 9, 2024.
Many had turned up at various watch parties across the territory, including at Rena’s Festiville, hoping to see the World Athletics Championships Silver Medallist and Double Commonwealth Games Champion secure a podium finish in Paris.
“First and foremost, thank you all for your unwavering support throughout my journey to and at this year’s Olympic Games. Seeing such a wonderful large turnout to cheer me on in my final was so heartwarming to know that my country supports me all the way. Representing the British Virgin Islands is such a privilege and something I hold very close to my heart, honestly an honor,” McMaster stated on his Facebook page today, August 11, 2024.
‘Saddened & disappointed’
The 2-time Diamond League champion admitted he was a bit “saddened” and “disappointed” by not medalling.
“I gave all I had while battling an injury, but I am beyond grateful that I made it this far based on my circumstances.”
The territory’s most successful athlete noted; however, that he is already setting his sights on redemption.
‘Fuel to come back stronger’
“I will use this disappointment as fuel to come back stronger and better than ever. I will continue to work hard, push myself to new limits, and strive for success on the world stage.”
McMaster added that he is determined to make his country proud and show the world what he is truly capable of.
“I will not let this setback define me, but rather motivate me to reach even greater heights,” McMaster stated.
