‘I visited VG & felt like a celebrity’- Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines
Reporting via a post on the social network website, Facebook, Hon Maduro-Caines said, “I visited our sister island VG… for a few hours and felt like a celebrity. The surprise look on some people faces was priceless. The hugs and kisses and picture taking, made my day.”
“The people of VG are always so friendly and welcoming. Thanks to Pastor Ricketts [Paul A. Ricketts] for taking some time to escort me around,” she said.
D6 a dumping area - Hon Maduro-Caines
Many are wondering if Ms Maduro-Caines’ current celebrity status on VG could spell a shift in representation at the next Virgin Islands polls.
At the September 2, 2019, continuation of the Sixth Sitting of the First Session of the Fourth House of Assembly in the Virgin Islands, Hon Maduro-Caines famously told the House that her District was starting to look like a dump.
“We in District 6 have been plagued by the parking of equipment and boat trailers and boats all over the district… It’s time that they stop making the 6th District look like a dumping area,” she told the House.
Ms Maduro-Caines has been the representative for the area since 2011 after winning the seat from its previous representative, the late Omar W. Hodge of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).
