'I turn district police' - Hon Myron V. Walwyn
During the First sitting of the Third Session of the Fifth House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, he emphasised that more needs to be done to ensure residents keep their districts clean.
'I catch one'
One of the main issues he highlighted is how businesses dispose of their waste. "The businesses in the territory, Madam Speaker, not all of them, but some of them. Up to yesterday, I catch one."
Walwyn explained, "I turn police now, you know. I turn police in my district, because when I catch you doing something you’re not supposed to do, inside of that district, there I come out of my car, and I’m calling you up."
He expressed his desire for the Sixth District to be well-kept, stating, "I want the district to look proper"
He recounted an incident from the previous day: "I caught one yesterday. Some of them, they get a little job from somewhere, to carry the garbage, or the bulk waste, down to Pockwood Pond, and they find the nearest bin to deposit it in. I catch one, I catch it so good he was afraid to see me."
Hon Walwyn called for more stringent laws and for the introduction of litter wardens or law enforcement officers to address this issue. "We got to try to get the businesses find a way. We have to get inspectors. If we got to make law enforcement, also litter wardens or whatever it is we have to do, let us get it done because we got to keep the place clean."

"Fifty six litter wardens are now fully equipped to carry out their duties and have been collecting their identification cards over the past week."

Juggling so many balls will make your head spin ole boy. Maybe you need put on your refuse collection overalls and go out and drive around to assist - you pick up and drop off Deon Pockwood Pond. What you say…..
This problem with the BULKY WASTE was magnified when ALL (13) gave the former WMD Director autonomy to do BS — ( DEPOSIT bulky next to the green bins ——instead of taking them to dumpsite —- then the removal of GREEN BINS !! We BVI have moved away from having OLD OIL DRUMS by our gates 25-30 years now —- YET he brought this back (about HOUSE /HOUSE ) collection ; There is space ( side walks / easements/ shoulders ) as EVERY property line AND building comes out to the motorable road . Where are the bins going to be placed ? Who will recover the empty drums when the truck empties them ?? WASTE. MANAGEMENT has gone 30 years backwards because WE ( BH. ) people have No respect for ourselves and many believe ;Once it’s IMPORTED it is BETTER than LOCAL — no vision. We all perish
