‘I take my blame for whatever I was responsible for’- Dr Pickering
The VI is currently being forced to implement recommendations made by lone Commissioner of the Commission of Inquiry into governance, Gary R. Hickinbottom, who found that serious dishonesty may have taken place in Government and recommended direct rule by the United Kingdom.
The UK has held off on imposing direct rule but, with a noose around the VI's neck, is ensuring that the recommendations of the CoI Report are implemented within a 2-year timeframe or it would activate an Order in Council for direct rule.
All of this is happening while its former Premier Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) faces a court trial on drugs and money laundering conspiracy charges.
“I listen to the criticisms and I’m the first to say, I've said it publicly… I was a part of it and I will be the first to admit, I take my blame for whatever I was responsible for and all of us need to do that, not the politicians alone,” he said.
Dr Pickering was at the time speaking as a guest on the June 28, 2022, Honestly Speaking radio show hosted by Claude O. Skelton-Cline.
He added, “Those of us who are in elected office and who have been in elected office didn't put ourselves there.”
“And so those of us who have been elected and those of us who have done wrong things and in places where we probably dream, we'd never be. We didn't get there on our own,” he said.
Electorate & Politicians must take the blame - Dr Pickering
Dr Pickering added that both the voters and elected politicians must take responsibility for our own actions, “Those who elected us and put us in places and things happen, can't just run and blame. You have to ask yourself; did I make the right choice?”
By asking that question he said when the choice comes again, that decision on who is elected is ultimately going to determine where the VI goes from there.
“They can't be taken lightly because the political crisis that we find ourselves in now, all of us, have to take responsibility and all of us have to put our hands to the plow and find ways to try collectively to ensure that we chart a way forward for the future of this country and for future generations,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Pickering added that the VI has achieved a lot in a short space of time, and in a lot of ways, the people have become prideful and hearty.
He said people should avoid playing the blame game on the current state of the VI, "We are where we are, where do we go from here?" he questioned.

Seventh District I hope you all are reading this. This man is saying that it’s your fault for keeping him in office all those years doing nothing for your community but being crooked and corrupt! I agree completely! I hope you all take out the one in there as well. The evil hearts of politicians are truly unmeasurable!
In my best Long Look voice
He barely admitting his fault and in the very next breath want to shift the focus to other people who need to accept responsibility too? How benevolent!
A tiger never changes his stripes...even when he gets old and slower, he is still a dangerous tiger
Our present Premier has not even confessed of any wrong nor have he admitted to have any knowledge of the former Premier Andrew A. Fahie alledge anti- BVI political mismanagement of our finances, and other dispicable deeds against us. Many do not believe that he is guilty. If he truly is guilty, I believe that he is, many are readily willing to forgive him his tresspasses. Why not also be willing to forgive the former Deputy Premier Dr. Kendrick of his tresspasses, and errors.
If coming next election, we were to vote in office a new party of novices, what good sence would that make. It is time for us to stop the hate of each others, put on power knowledgeable, and competent leaders in power under the UK- oversight, that to allowed our past to hold us back from pursuing better governance.
All true Christians know that salvation is by grace, base one God's love by faith, and that forgiveness is vital.
I put it to all true Christians of the 7th electorial district that is eligible to vote, and expect to vote coming next election day, to obey Jesus command to, and do forgive the former NDP Deputy Premier Dr. Kendrick Pickering of his past failure, and error, He has honestly pledged not to repeat them again.
If Christians so-call hold his past against him, God will hold yours against them. True Christians will forgive him. Of all that we know that have intention to run next coming general election, Dr. Kendrick Pickering is the most qualified of them all.
This above is the all, especially to those that respect to, and will go to the pole, and vote for a leader of the 7th electorial district next coming general election.
Love all, but Vote for the best candidate, Dr. Kendrick Pickering.
Observe Long Look today. Observe the BVI. You can't blame any of those old stalwarts from Long Look, many of whom are in their graves today. You can't blame the young people or even the vagrants in the community who counted on you.
You can't place any blame on any voter in Long Look or in any part of District 7, not even with 0.00000001% of blame. You need to look in the mirror.
Dr. Kendrick Pickering, you need on one (1) more vote than that the second runner up to be declared the winner. Fight for it, though you may get more.
Don't forget these words: A winner never quit, neither will a quitter win. To win especially a time as this is not an option, but rather a must. Don't swing for a base hit, neither a double or triple. Swing and hit a home run for the win. Disappoint your opponents with victory coming next political general election.
May God our Creator and eternal Father continue to bless your honest desire to bring to fruition better governance for the people of the British Virgin Islands.
The former NDP Deputy Premier Dr Kendrick Pickering is by far a more eledgible and politically competent leaders than the current Premier, Hon. Dr. Natalio Sajande Wheatley. He would not have tolerated the former NDP Premier Dr. Orlando Smith, and stayed quiet as di the the current Premier has pretended that he was unaware of the former Premier Andrew A. Fahie alledged activities.
Do you kwo that the 7th lead by the current Premier and the 8th. district lead by the Hon Minister of Health Marlon Penn are the two filthiest district in the BVI?
Sewerage filthy, water daily runs in the road thouhout those tow districts, especially the 7th district that voted our current Premier in power as a political representative? This fact Take a walk or drive though to prove it for yourselves.
Like his Grandfather didn't care about the people best interest so doesn't he, facts.
Let us shuffle the politicians and pick the best is what we have. Yes, Dr. Kendrick Pickering has stumbled as fall a number of times, but same have you. What make you think that you can do better, but he wouldn't?
He can, and surely will, if you and I let go of negativity, and take hold of positivity, people of the 7th electorial district. I am now one of his several advisors. He is open to listen, and ready to work hard to work for, you seriously, and tirelessly with great passion.
Next coming general election vote for the much improved candidate, Dr. Kendrick Pickering.
Note: Thank God for the UK, and the CoI.
For our own good God help the DEA to to arrested, you know who, to help us on the part of better governnce.
A cabinet of novice can never be in our best interest.
We need experience political leaders to help groomed new one going forward.
