‘I respect my boss’ –Hon Fahie tells VG
This was according to First District Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie who was a key player in the team of Virgin Islands Party (VIP) members who took to their first general community meeting on Wednesday June 18, 2014 on the sister island of Virgin Gorda.
“I respect my boss,” Hon Fahie said, referring to Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA, Chairman of the VIP. Hon Fahie and Hon Fraser contested the post of Chairman of the VIP at the party’s internal elections on May 28, 2014. Hon Fraser won.
Wednesday’s meeting is said to be the first of several meeting to be held across the Territory following the most recent elections of the opposition party.
Hon Fahie highlighted the fact that the VIP is the only party in the Virgin Islands with a constitution. He noted, “What the Chairman, the President and myself [are] asking you here tonight is to allow yourselves to be part of the whole reform, the re-strategizing of the party.”
He sought to make it abundantly clear that there is absolutely no feud between himself and Hon Fraser. He noted that while the elections and campaigning of the party for the post are over the suffering of the people is not over.
He referred to the numerous signs across Tortola that says “For Rent” which he said says a lot for the economy. “For sale! Now for sale! There are so many things for sale that you can’t get the market value,” said Hon Fahie.
Speaking for himself and for the VIP, he said they are not going to subscribe to the bringing in of investors to have them take care of the economy. “Hear me clearly; we are for investors coming in but not those who are going to develop on the backs of the people. Those are not the investors we want in this country and we want to make our people become millionaires,” declared Hon Fahie.
He stated that the current NDP government is in the habit of lying to the people by saying that everything is under control. “Every day you go to the street you see it’s not what they are tell you. And you hear they are doing well and you realize it’s a well they are digging to put us in, and whenever you say something it seems as if they want to fight you,” said Hon Fahie.

A constitution that went null and void after not having internal elections for over 8 years!
