WEST END, Tortola, VI- Ms Bria R. Guishard, General Manager of Long Bay Beach Resort, has said the potential to grow is what sets the Virgin Islands apart.

Guishard was the featured professional on the fifth episode of Beyond the Horizon on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

“I would say investors are drawn to our exclusivity. They're drawn to our natural assets, and you know, just the potential to grow in this space in tourism. What I believe sets the BVI apart is our potential to grow.”

Focusing on volume & value

She explained that the VI does not have mass tourism at the moment, but it is being built slowly.

“I like the fact that we're taking our time with it. You know we're not just focusing on volume but value.”

Guishard added that tourism and hospitality come hand in hand.

“You see a lot more Airbnbs. So if we are growing in tourism and marketing the BVI on such a large scale to invite visitors, there must be a place for them to stay, a place for them to eat…they have to experience something; they have to leave with some kind of value from the BVI.”

She said the growth potential of the VI excites her when it comes to hospitality in the territory.

“We don't know what is to come in the next few years, and I'm happy to see what is currently being shaped. If I could describe the BVI in three words, it would be authentic, resilient, and beautiful.”

if cruise ship passenger are not mass tourism... I don't think in a day with so many visitors a visit to The Baths and other places is enjoyable.

We need to focus on charter tourists and the ones that stay overnight!

Why should we be limited ?we can have both cruise and overnight , high end - mid and lower tier. We have enough Island that we can develop for all levels.

Cruise ship passengers is the gate way to open other sectors of the industry, I drove some cruise passengers yesterday, took them to loose mangoes and they fell in Love with Scrub Island just across the water and swear they coming back to stay there

If the young lady thinks volume as opposed to value is how we are "growing" she hasn't been to Cane Garden Bay recently. Music so loud you can't have a conversation. Chairs and umbrellas covering the sand. Foos and drinks expensive, but all food and drinks on the island are expensive. That's our normal life. Don't offer to pay with a credit card because that gets you an additional 5% charge to cover the bank fees the owner has to pay. Lean Toos selling tacky souvenirs. As a person who grew up here and knows what the beaches were like once upon a time this doesn't encourage me to go to the beach. Beaches are now for tourists. Where's the value for locals?

We keep inviting people to our house but we ain't cleaning it! We need a national policy to CLEAN the country and resurface the entire capital. People with real estate in RT should be fined for not upkeeping their buildings. Businesses that leave garbage and monopolizes the sidewalks as if its theirs (like Bobby's) should be fined. We have sewage in the streets, the mentally unwell and uncared for wondering around doing as they wish. Derelict vehicles parked all over. They ALL need to scraped up and dumped. People with properties bond to the government's road need to be fined too, because some of them keep their yards so untidy. We need to clean house. Or will a tourist have to make more posts about our potholes, and other issues before we do what we have to do?

LBBR offers a good high end product so quality is necessary and quantity dilutes the offering.
