‘I don’t expect to get Commissioner’s post in a handbasket’- Jacqueline E. Vanterpool

Ms Vanterpool has been acting in the office of CoP since the retirement of former CoP Mark Collins since October 24, 2024. She disclosed in April 2025 that she had applied for the position and was scheduled to be interviewed when the vacancy announcement was made in early 2024.
However, Governor Daniel Pruce abruptly stopped the recruitment process pending the release of the Second Volume of the Law Enforcement Review, which he said would give even more guidelines for the recruitment process.
Many saw this as the Governor’s way of trying to make it difficult for a local like Ms Vanterpool to get the post. Ms Vanterpool, in an interview on JTV Channel 55 on April 23, 2025, had said she was disappointed when she was not given an opportunity to be interviewed for the post and that she had not yet reapplied since she was awaiting the Lord to lead.
The new application process closed on May 30, 2025.
‘I have reapplied’- Jacqueline E. Vanterpool
Speaking at a press conference on June 30, 2025, Ms Vanterpool was asked whether she had reapplied.
“I won’t go into detail. I’ll say to you that the commission’s process has been advertised. I have reapplied, and it’s a process that every applicant has to go through, to be interviewed, and I do not expect to get the commissioner’s post in a handbasket…”
Many in the public, including a former legislator and several talk show hosts and media influencers, have publicly appealed for Ms Vanterpool to be confirmed to the post, which she has acted in about times. A petition by a group of prominent and respected members of society was also made to Governor Pruce for her confirmation.
Governor Pruce has publicly admitted that Vanterpool has been doing a "fantastic job"; however, Ms Vanterpool does not expect to be granted any favours.
“I expect to go through the entire process just like anyone else who has applied,” Ms Vanterpool said at the same press conference.
It is unclear when the new commissioner will be decided upon, and Governor Pruce is currently out of the territory until early August.

Our folks back in the day protested on the streets and were very much proud also victorious
Talk to much and with all the talking programs yet VI People have to take the Backseat
Action speak far louder than words because shut mouth catches no flies
The same things are going to happen. All the big names in the territory will get too many favors for their outlaw children. Family thing is not what we need in this place. I have seen a young man sp nd no time in jail for gun possession and attempted murder , under her watch just because they have positions and family ties. In fact two of them.
And anyone can go back and review the cases. These guys are out like nothing happened, while others in jail can’t even get a hearing. This is not what we need for the territory, all must face equal justice.
Equal right and Justice ????
Jackie is a good person at heart but too soft. She won’t be able to do it how the rough terrain needs it done. This place is not easy. Too many unsolved shootings, deaths , robbery, even domestic violence, pastors preacher abusing youths , b inert in high and low places , Money is used to abuse , She can’t handle this.
Those Ministers and government officials will break her to nothing , just a scape goal is what they looking for. Jackie please retire in peace, leave this thing alone , you will regret if you are given the opportunity.
