BAUGHER'S BAY, Tortola, VI– Talk show host Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline has said he should have been ‘independent’ in terms of politics and not politically aligned, declaring that he carries the burden for seeing the Virgin Islands (VI) get better.

Speaking on the Tuesday, November 1, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking radio talk show on ZBVI 780 AM, Skelton-Cline said although he believes he did not choose to carry that burden, it has cost him.

“I carry a burden, and sometimes I wish I didn’t… for the advancement of the land of my birth and it has cost me tremendously,” he said.

“Sometimes I wish I myself would shut-up, but I can’t… I carry this weight and I have to believe that it's God-ordained, but there is a cost,” he added.

No support for a single party - Skelton-Cline

Meanwhile, Skelton-Cline said as it relates to party politics in the VI, he will not wholeheartedly support a single party as was the case before. “These are not ordinary times, we are not in an ordinary place in our history, it cannot be business as usual,” he said regarding the next general election in the VI.

He further warned upcoming politicians that it is not the season for the kind of campaigns often seen in the VI and that campaigning for the 2023 elections has to be different.

While Skelton-Cline maintains that he is still a member of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), he said his support in 2023 will not be fully behind the VIP.

"I do not believe that people of this country in this next general election will wholeheartedly elect any singular party unless some new party comes on the scene with maybe a mixture of some old guards and a plethora of new faces, who can bring fresh eyes, ears, spirit, and thought processes to the agenda," he added.

YES..WE ALL WANT YOU TO DO WHAT YOU SAID..... "Sometimes I wish I myself would shut-up". Trying to play the 'sacrificial lamb' is simply stupid. No sympathy here.

The love of money is the root is all evil, says the Holy Scriptures that you have laimed to represent.
If truly you mean at least more than fifty percent of what you said that is recorded in this speech, I see it as that you are you are coming to realise that people that talk too much lack good judgement.
If spite of yours many blunders, and bias political position. God loves you as much as He does others and me.
I'm reference to your prophecy that the next Premier will be a woman, that may come to pass, but also may not
You said that you are VIP member, but you will not fully support its return to power. Seemingly, you are not sure of you alliance with the VIP, yet you have claimed that you are a VIP member. At this time you a confused.

Seemingly I think that you that most of your arguments were rejected by the majority of people that you tried to influence. Maybe this is why you are waking up from you own failed deviceness. Good for you, if you do.

Last but not least, it may not be for at least thirty years or more before the UK may even think of agreeing to begin the VI independence, if at all it does so.

"Cast your burdens on the Lord, and leave them there."

Does he alone carry that burden? Don't we all share that?
He has benefitted more from that burden than 90% of us.
He sounds like someone with an agenda.

Do you all really think the unity govt and the Premier want to have an election? No. Most of them will lose and they know that... Then again when Fahie take the plea deal and turn state witness and officials start getting pick up by the feds. No need for election. England will have all the reasons we gave them to take over...

The elected politicians are the minor problem, that can be fixed, and the government structure is the major issue. The people need accountable representation. The premier, ministers, and the minister of finance need to be elected positions with legislation ln place to recall them if necessary. Yes, a completely elected government that's accountable to the people is needed.

Well, they can't collect him for corruption or breach of trust by a public officer. So he might just slip by. All things considered, he is not an idiot.

Unfortunately, some misguided civil servants will fall, and we may see some politicians in prison. Is this a good thing?
