Huggins signs for Texas

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Territory’s very own sprint sensation, Nelda Huggins, has taken another huge step forward in her career, both athletically and academically, by signing for the University of Texas.

Iowa Central CC’s Nelda Huggins of the [British] Virgin Islands and Formerly of St Jago High School (Jamaica) has signed with the University of Texas Longhorns.

Nelda is the # 1 rank in the women NJCAA 100m, and the # 7 rank in the women’s NJCAA 200m for 2017 outdoors. She is also the 2017 Indoor women’s NJCAA 60m runner up in her freshman year.

“I want to think everyone that always believe in me, who always had my back from day one,” commented Huggins.

 “I mostly have to thank my cousin Niayla Smith for bring me in track. I hated her then but I’m thankful now. I will only get stronger, faster, and mostly smarter."

      She is a BVIslander, born and bred. I watched her run from he time she could hardly walk. Her dad use to run around the track with her on his shoulders after she ran and won her races. Her mother is a BVIslander. She only spent the last 2 years in Jamaica in high school. Know your facts before you blab your big mouth
