House Speaker releases Issue 2 of newsletter House Matters
The second issue follows the launch of Issue 1, which was released during the 75th anniversary of the restoration of legislation in the Virgin Islands (VI).
According to a September 18, 2026, press release from the HoA, Issue 2 continues the newsletter’s mission to keep residents informed about legislative business, regional and international engagement, and the standards that guide the work of the House.
The House belongs to the people- Hon Speaker
Hon George-Massicote called it an honour to serve as Speaker of the HoA and to work on behalf of the people.
“We created this newsletter to help you better understand what the House of Assembly does and how its work affects your everyday life. The House belongs to the people, so it is important that everyone has the opportunity to know what is happening and why it matters.”
The House, she added, has continued to work to make Parliament stronger and more effective over the past few months.
“We have debated and passed important laws, worked with regional and international partners, improved how the House operates, and continued building an institution that is open, modern and accountable to the people.”
Inside Issue 2
Inside Issue 2 of House Matters, readers will find House Highlights, Parliament in Action, Blue Economy Youth Debate, Youth & Civic Education, and Behind the Scenes.
The HoA said this issue offers deeper coverage of legislative activities, updates on the House’s regional and international engagements, and more insight into the procedural and ethical standards that underpin its work.
The release added that the goal remains the same: to provide Virgin Islanders with clear, timely, and accessible information about what the House of Assembly is doing.
