ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - It is noted that most Members of the Honourable House of Assembly were not in attendance at the Departure Ceremony for Governor John Rankin CMG.

Regrettably, apart from the Premier, Leader of the Opposition, and Attorney General, no other Member received an invitation to the Governor’s Departure Ceremony. Consequently, the Speaker and other Members were not in attendance at the event.

Upon the Speaker’s inquiry into the matter with the Governor’s office, it was revealed that the ceremony was meant to be intimate and therefore invitations were not extended to the Speaker and other Members of the House of Assembly.

We acknowledge the importance of fostering unity and inclusivity in such occasions, and while the invitation was not extended, the Speaker wishes the Governor well in his future endeavors.

Now you see where the disrespect originated. The Governor had no regard for our people and leaders.

Unlike the Premier, at least the Speaker has a little class

No source. No press release notice should be approved unless and until the person submitting the notice confirms who should be regarded as the source. Until then, unreliable.

Let’s not behave like blind mumus. The Governor was not here to represent you; he was here to represent tge UK/crown. Rankin didn’t give a rat’s @$$ about you Negroes. If he did he would have extended and invitation to your duty elected representatives. Extending an invitation to the. Premier, Leader of of tge Opposition and AG, was a token invite. The Guv told you who he was and we didn’t believe him. For example, during Foreparents/forbears and heroes day where was tge governor, did he participate? If he were truly your Governor he would have genuinely participate. When someone tell and show you who they are believe them. We deserve the way we are treated, disrespected, for we are not united and we altruistically can our best interest to promote the interest, desires, Plan etc, of Colonialists and time after time we get pimp slap but never learn and go back for more. Here is a news flash the people are not into you. They don’t see you as equals but subjects out in the colonies. Stop fetchin and stepping, shucking and givin. I’m out... By the way, why did the Speaker ask about an invite? Shooots! Damn!
