ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has encouraged all residents of the Virgin Islands (VI) to emulate the patriotism exhibited by the late Eileene L. Parsons, OBE.

On July 1, 2025, the House of Assembly (HoA) held a Special Sitting to honour the former educator, legislator, and cultural icon, who passed away on June 22, 2025.

Dressed in a blue territorial-wear blazer in honour of the cultural icon, who also led the initiative to design the territorial clothing of the Virgin Islands, Premier Wheatley listed the many noble achievements of the late Parsons.

Take up mantle of patriotism- Premier

“Above all the accolades she received and the ways in which she was recognised, Mrs Eileene Lucia Parsons was a true patriot of the Virgin Islands,” said Premier Wheatley.

He emphasised that the late Parsons had a profound love for the VI and a deep passion for the Territory, even expressing her willingness to die for it.

“I believe that one of the best ways we can honour the great Eileene Lucia Parsons is by taking up the mantle of patriotism. Regardless of where you were born or where you are from, if you reside in these Virgin Islands, you can embrace this spirit and work for the betterment of our Territory,” he stated.

The Premier encouraged everyone to identify their strengths and be willing to contribute, aiming to create a better future right here in the VI.

It was so shameful to hear those speeches talking about how she loved Johnny Walker and the different labels. All these other fancy talks and what she did are just earthly and will soon pass away. Only what was done for Christ will last, and sadly, not a single word is to be heard about her walk with Christ. She was granted 94 years on this earth, and she dedicated it to Johnny Walker and Culture. I heard Ronnie say that Saint Peter will welcome her(have mercy Lord!!!)

Lord, help us who remain to surrender to Christ so that we may hear the words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord.
