ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, Hon Lorna G. Smith (AL) will be opening her Anegada District Office tomorrow, Friday, April 12, 2024.

The opening of the office was announced earlier in the year, however, the date for the official opening date of April 12, 2024, was made on April 8, 2024, during a press conference.

“I am planning to open a similar office in Jost Van Dyke, hopefully in June. These offices will allow me to be more present and better serve those communities by providing a dedicated space to connect with constituents and represent your interests effectively,” Hon Smith said.

First announced on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the House of Assembly, the Minister said the opening of her Anegada office by the end of the Month comes as part of a commitment made to residents of the island.

“I am committed to providing more support to its residents and am honoured that many of them contact me regularly with matters that need a quick response. I am not always able to respond immediately and my representative at the office will make sure that I follow up,” she said.

More support for residents of Sister Islands

Hon Smith said that Miss Sylvia Faulkner will represent her at the office located in the Settlement and in addition to providing support and bringing matters to her attention, she will provide any assistance with filling out Government application forms for various agencies.

“I am grateful to my colleague Hon Vincent Wheatley for his support in the endeavor. It is likely that he will share the facilities with me. It’s my intention to open a similar office on Jost van Dyke and will continue to work with my colleague Hon Mitch Turnbull to make this happen,” Hon Smith told the House.

Hon Smith said her objective is to reduce the time and costs of those on the sister islands to access the services of legislators, “Let’s bring our sister islands closer to the center! Stay tuned for dates and more information,” Hon Smith promised in her update.

Government needs to make the insurance companies that’s responsible for those boats pay to get them removed and destroyed.

Why is this Government wasting PUBLIC FUNDS? There is a conference room at the PUBLIC LIBRARY. It is hardly used. This Half-A$$ed Government can find money for BS. Filling their family pockets. What about the School? The 3 miles of road that is YET to be paved that runs from Cow Wreck to Keel Point? The clinic is still NOT functional. The same family is renting their building to house the clinic. The "Welcome Center" at Setting Point is nothing but a GOAT SHED. GET IN OUR CORNER !!!
