SCRUB ISLAND, VI - Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour, and Trade, Honourable Lorna G. Smith (AL), OBE on April 19, 2024, delivered the keynote address at the special 20th anniversary meeting and conference of ICC FraudNet.

At the core of the address, the Deputy Premier highlighted the strong position the Virgin Islands Government takes in relation to the deterrence of fraud and the fight against financial crime.

ICC FraudNet holds a meeting and conference once every six months and to date, the network has held 39 bi-annual meetings and conferences in over 30 different countries.

The conference held at Scrub Island Resort in the VI, brought together over 100 attendees from 71 countries, including many of the top asset recovery lawyers and representatives from strategic partner organisations such as GreyList Trace, Mintz, BDO, and Grant Thornton. The event follows the successful 10th anniversary event, held a decade ago in the Virgin Islands.

Fighting financial crimes

In her address, Honourable Smith reinforced the Virgin Islands Government's promise to fight financial crime in all its forms, at a time when such threats faced are growing, with geopolitical instability further exacerbating those risks.

“I am immensely proud that ICC FraudNet chose the Virgin Islands for its 20th anniversary conference. There is no doubt that we face challenges from those with criminal intent who seek to misuse our services."

Hon Smith added, "The decision by ICC FraudNet to come to the Virgin Islands reflects our shared responsibility to ensure that financial crime is investigated and prosecuted and that assets lost or stolen are identified and recovered through the courts.”

The Minister also reiterated the VI's Government’s commitment to its robust regulatory regime, and its adherence to the rule of law and commended the role that industry members and the private sector play in upholding these high standards.

So how come when I resided in the British Virgin Islands, every bank account was hacked? money moved around like it was a game. My printed mailed bank statements from Scotia, mailed in Roadtown, to my box in Roadtown,
never showed up? I went to Financial Services and Premier Smith in person about everything, and no one would
find out who was screwing around. Yet I was used as a scapegoat for being an American white from the USA, so
I just HAD TO be doing something wrong. I still have posessions at a former landlords (Stoutts) not brought to my friend on Tortola to keep for me or ship back to the states. I paid a thousand dollar bond for my temporary residency as per the law of the land there, and gave over all kinds of info to the BVI government before I moved over. And the RVIPF incident and they don't respond to communications since 2018 as doesnt the Premiers or Governors or their staff. England did finally send their foreign secretary over, but that was for the overall corruption of the BVI government, not what was done to me. I lost feeling in part of my right hand from your police also. No comment from them. Maybe 'honorable' Lorna Smith can pay me $16 billion dollars US for all the
treachery against me. But she won't. Maybe the BVI can pay by being annihilated since the use of force seems to be the only thing you understand. No matter what words I say, you are paying. No one will protect you either.
I did nothing to you (word censored)

We must first, Lieutenant Premier, clean up the fraud and corruption within our own households, backyards, courtyards, AND, churchyards,FIRST, BEFORE, you can begin to talk about, cleaning up financial criimes..

You see, to me, these types of conferences will never hold water!

A thief will never give up the reasons he became a thief in the first place, and the gains realized from such thefts- monetarily, and otherwise!

THIS, is the position these Virgin Islands, have found themselves in; RATS, trying to tell the world , HOW, WHY,and WHERE, to guard, and store ,the cheese!!

    Utter Nonsense!
