VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Outspoken legislator and Junior Minister for Trade, Economic Development, Agriculture and Fisheries Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL) has announced her resignation from the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

Her announcement was made on social media today, February 12, 2023.

Noting that she will be seeking re-election in the 2023 General Election of the Virgin Islands, Hon Flax-Charles said she will not be doing so with the VIP.

I must part ways with the VIP- Hon Flax-Charles

“While I am grateful for both the triumphs and the obstacles which I encountered along the way, it is clear to me, that at this stage, I must part ways with the Virgin Islands Party. As of today, I have tendered my resignation.”

Hon Flax-Charles thanked the Virgin Islands Party Congress and her colleagues in the House of Assembly for her “introduction to this trial by fire”

She said: As imperfect as the circumstances may have been, we worked together to see much done and this is my great pride!”

Hon Flax-Charles noted that her work in politics is not ended, as she said there is so much more that needs to be done to maintain and secure the Virgin Islands for the generations to come.

“It is known, I never abandon the job. So, let the question go answered. I am seeking re-election to continue the effort which has been entrusted to me. If it is the people’s will, I will continue to be their voice and champion, even if I stand alone!” Hon Flax-Charles declared.

It remains to be seen how the VIP will respond, as Hon Flax-Charles is a serving Junior Minister in the Unity Government on account of her being a Member of the VIP.

It also remains to be seen if Hon Flax-Charles will contest the next elections as an At Large Representative or whether she will challenge the incumbent Ninth District Representative Hon Vincent O. Wheatley.

Well well! Ting really start now. One very important lesson we must learn in life is how to attack a problem without attacking the person connected to the problem. There is always more in the mortar than the pestle. Will she now run against her teamate hon. Wheatley in the 9th. Get your popcorn folks!!! It's about to heat up!!!

Leaders, bosses and people of power need to understand its not everyone they can bully, push around and disrespect. Shareen is strong and courageous. They making excuses to replace her because they can't shut her up and contol her. Need more Shareen.. I am in #4. She got my vote if she is at large..

You are confused because when you talk about anyone who bullies, pushes, and disrespect others then you are talking about Shereen. This is why she will NOT BE RE-ELECTED.

One less seat for VIP. ..I hope she running at large With another Party Preferably Ronnie and not the foolishness I am hearing about contesting #9. VIP going need two at large seats to retain power, Sheep and De Castro their only possible chance.. I doubt they going to get all 2. I will say it again This election is about Ronnie and Sowande, Who is better for Premier..Which one the people want to lead us into the future. Here is the Strange twist, NDP 2 seats will decide the next Govt..

Ronnie? Ronnie is a businessman not a politician. He looks out for special interest groups, himself and foreign investment. People like that care more for development than environmental ills and social injustice. Shereen is a community activist and environmentalist how do those two connect?

@ VG women, can a leopard change its spots, that’s the true nature of the woman, from the time I know his woman, she has always been one rude, disrespectful, loud mouth and rowdy woman. Most of them
Only know people around elections, they will come nice nice begging for your votes but after that they pass you in the government expensive rides, glass up and not even a toot horn. But I am here waiting patiently on all
Of them. I voted that woman the last time because she was running with the party I supported, but ordinarily, she could have never get my vote.

She has been speaking to the other political parties for a while now, so the time has come for her to move on with the established plan they have a while now. To all political party remember what she did to the VIP she will do to you. Her campaign will now be to bash the VIP all day and night. SMDH.

You will conquer as an at large or in the 9th since the 9th been starve for representation it would be a great idea to fill that void.

It takes someone with guts and fortitude to walk away like that. Hon lady you have gain my respect. They know they cant afford to lose you. If they thought they could they would have made the first move.

They not only lose you they also lose whitley as well. The sheep has been a total failure so he gone as well. If they wanted the sheep they would have put him in the first.

My advice to you lady is stay far from the ndp if 8th is the leader. He would join with the 7th the first chance he gets. Only issue facing him is that VIP already has a man for the 8th. His best bet is to move to the 7th there you would find your weakest link.

All who have ears heard how this lady lived on the street daily bad talking the VIP and now the Unity government and most of the public officers. To her, she is the only honest, hardworking and dedicated person. The sooner she gets out of politics the better for the country. By the way I am not a VIP supporter but a public officer who is fed up of her disrespectful self.

I have an issue with anyone who cannot work with the people they are with but do not leave. Instead sit down between them for a very long time eating them out like a termite then leave when they feel the job is done. This is deception and not honorable at all. She can never get my vote.

We on the ground know that the party she is running with is naming their candidates this week and her reward for undermining the VIP was that she was named as one of their candidates, so she had no choice but to resign now to allow her to go work with who she has always really been with all the time. SMH.

Honorable Shereen may have well-intentioned qualities that could contribute to the territory, but it is Honorable V. Wheatley who has done the grueling work and proven to be a capable lawmaker. He doesn't seek recognition or fanfare, but solely focuses on serving the citizens of Virgin Gorda and Anegada. The art of politics involves bargaining and making concessions. Too often, we are quick to judge based on appearances rather than taking the time to examine the tangible achievements that truly benefit the people

The woman just need to leave politics for good and humble herself. She was never a committed soul and if truth be told she won as an At Large candidate because the people were fed up with the NDP and voted party line. She will never win as an independent candidate nor as an At Large Candidate or as a candidate vying for a district. The people of VG would never give her that position there. She's disrespectful rowdy and believes that being loud is a sign of strength. Madam Flax+Charles your political career and further aspirations in politics have just grind to an squeaking halt. Your resume will always say that your were once at At Large representative but there will be no fanfare to back that up. Happy riddance and may you learn to learn to be respectful, quiet and most of all be humble.
