Penn (R8) has launched the first edition of his Official District 8 Neighborhood Community Newsletter, which puts the East End/Long Look community into focus and brings awareness to social, mental, physical and economic issues in the District.

Launched on December 20, 2021, Hon Penn in a release on the advertising-supported publication said part of the mission of the newsletter is to bring solutions to issues plaguing the community.

Community must move forward together - Hon Penn

“As the world faces turbulent times brought on by the onslaught of COVID-19, my district committee and I, believe that it is imperative that we as a people in the East End/Long Look community move forward as one people, towards one destiny.”

He said as communities, persons experience the same common problems, common struggles and desire the same basic fulfillment in life.

In his opening newsletter message said, “Once again, it is my pleasure to address you, my people, through this platform, not as a political opponent, but as an individual, who believes that the East End Long Look community must move forward as one people, towards one destiny. Hence, I see the need to take the initiative to produce this newsletter for the empowerment of our communities,” he said.

According to the Opposition Leader, historically, the East End/Long Look communities have been intertwined with residents of both districts who over the years have worked hard and continue to do so in efforts to create, empower and maintain a better way of life for present and future generations.

Be a part of the Newsletter - Hon Penn urges community

“I am encouraging you to be part of our newsletter, as together we bring awareness to some of our root problems, analyze the issues, offer solutions, as well as feature any content that fulfills the purpose of our Community Newsletter,” He said Penn said.

Some of the features in the newsletter include articles by Kerian Penn, Inspector John Antoine, and VI author Verna Penn-Moll

The District Community Newsletter can be uplifted District Office, located next to the Harbour View Restaurant in East End, as well as at various restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets in the area.

Hon. Penn, the Newsletter is all good but you must work on cleaning up the ills of the 8th District.
Have community meetings explaining to the residents the importance of cleanliness and pride for their community.

Bring back the Beautification Committee. Let us wake up our district to keep beautiful yards and give them the incentive of winning a prize for the best kept yard.

If you as the representative show your concerns and make your presence known, you might be surprised at the people's behavior.

Don't just talk the talk. Put your money where your mouth is.
