EAST END, Tortola, VI- Despite the one-sided Commissioner of Inquiry conducted by a one-man British judge stripping elected officials of their assistance grants to help residents, one elected official went into his own pockets, as has been the case even before he was elected in 2019.

At Large Member and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA) Honourable Neville A. Smith went into his personal funds to purchase hams and turkeys for some residents. He started his distribution today, December 22, 2022, throughout many places on Tortola.

Our roving camera caught up with the first-term politician, who said he was “delighted to help again” this time "out of my own pockets.”

He said he loves people and wherever he “can help to bring joy at this season of giving they can count on me.”

It is unclear how many hams and turkeys Hon Smith will distribute, but he has been doing this for many years and is well-known for his kindness to others.

SO because he give you a ham , that make him a good person..........for 3 years he was given one hundred and fifty Thousand ( am I correct)......ask him who was fortunate to get a ham then........that's bribery......not our vote.

Are our people so weak that we are easily fooled by a ham or a turkey. How many contracts he got from government?? He can afford those turkeys
    • @Sad exactly. (25/12/2022, 10:00) Like (0) Dislike (0) Reply
People need money. Not no dann Ham and Turkey.. Thats a controlling mentality telling people what to eat. Why dont he take a $23.000 from all the no bid contracts and put a $150.00 in 150 envelopes and let people buy what they like and feel like eating..im sure most of the ham & Turkey giving away are gift or half price discounts from businesses...This is nothing worth praising....The usually political game. We long pass that.

Does anyone know where is Honourable DeCastro? You don't hear crap from her. Who is she representing? What are her opinions on issues. You blamed Andrew for these people lack of motivation and service but look at her and Sowande. They are not leaders. One education expo and right back under her rock she went.

    THIS IS FUNNY
How could he be giving out turkey ???? and ham for Christmas?
I guess he have the money ???? because he had gotten a load of contracts from the same government he is in. This guy is clearly buying VOTES. Why not do something more sustainable for the people? The 'DREW' thought you well. This is all games.

I will not give anyone a vote just because they give me a ham or turkey. People here, their stomachs is to damn long. Go buy your own ham and turkey out your own pockets. Seems like they will give you a vote for a plate of tasteless food and a bottle of water. The norm here is always give me, give me. Hell, people here would stand in line in the heat for a free pack of chewing gum.

No matter what a Person does for the good of People. there are those who just waiting to sling mud. Eventually it's the thought and gesture from the heart and the acceptance of the Goods by Citizens who appreciate and welcome the items is what counts. If we should learn and lead by positivity the Territory will see brighter days. Thanks Hon. Smith for your dedication and commitment. May God continue to Bless You as you share your Blessings with Others.
