ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With the aim of making young people in the Virgin Islands more involved in nation-building, Deputy Speaker and Territorial At Large Member Hon Neville A. Smith will be soon launching a Think Tank Forum.

The forum is an initiative that Honourable Smith has long been passionate about and has stated about in the House of Assembly.

According to a flyer on the forum that will be ‘coming soon’, the ‘Making a difference Think Tank Forum’ will be about young people, ages 15 to 33, coming together to research and discuss with the objective of providing suggestions or solutions on a diverse range of issues in the Territory.

District meetings to precede forum

It also said the forum will be preceded by a series of District Meetings with the young people.

Meanwhile, in the first episode of 5 Minutes with a Member produced by the House of Assembly, Hon Smith listed the ‘Think Tank Forum’ as being at the top of his priority list for 2022.

“Doing this gives the young people a chance to be around the round table, come up with ideas and solutions instead of just telling them you want them on Boards,” Honourable Smith commented.

Hon Smith has always expressed his desire to get more people involved in nation-building and has advocated for parents and all stakeholders to ensure that the territory’s young minds are properly guided.

Great initiative involving the next generations of Virgin Islanders. They are more apt to buy into initiatives if they are engage in the discussion, debate and their inputs are seriously considered in the decision making. Additionally, VI movers and shakers also need to be engaged in several think tanks.

Good idea: a think tank forum for young people who disdain education who think they’re entitled to full employment without having to do anything.
