Hon Myron V. Walwyn lashes out @ Opposition

-professes to have been an honest man in all his dealings
Walwyn, speaking at the National Democratic Party’s campaign launch at the Road Town Market Square on May 6, 2015, was referring to the move by three members of the Opposition to write to Governor John S. Duncan and providing evidence of alleged unconstitutional ‎practices by him raking in money though his food services businesses for catering services to a Government department without getting the approval of the House of Assembly as is required by law. Alvin Christopher (R2), who he referred to as "The three stoogies", not to make any further attempts to attack him, Hon Walwyn said, "I am an attorney at law and I would not put myself in any thing that I cannot defend, but it's about hurting local businesses because if you notice how they operate in the House of Assembly, they ask specific question so you could call people names in the House so that the other people can turn into haters and believe they making lots of money..." ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- "You think meh lef meh mouth Inna meh mummah," are the words that form part of a calypso sung by a Vincentian calypsonian and adopted by Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn as he attempted to get at Virgin Islands Party strong man Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) who is one of three he accused of launching attempts to get him out of office.

Walwyn, speaking at the National Democratic Party’s campaign launch at the Road Town Market Square on May 6, 2015, was referring to the move by three members of the Opposition to write to Governor John S. Duncan and providing evidence of alleged unconstitutional ‎practices by him raking in money through his food services businesses for catering services to a Government department without getting the approval of the House of Assembly as is required by law.

Sending a strong warning to Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3), Honourable Andrew A. Fahie and Honourable J. Alvin Christopher (R2), who he referred to as "The three stoogies", not to make any further attempts to attack him, Hon Walwyn said, "I am an attorney at law and I would not put myself in any thing that I cannot defend, but it's about hurting local businesses because if you notice how they operate in the House of Assembly, they ask specific questions so you could call people names in the House so that the other people can turn into haters and believe they making lots of money..."

The Opposition members reportedly provided the governor with evidence that two companies that Hon Walwyn has interest in, MVW International Ltd., and The Pub (2012) Ltd., took in some $100,000 in catering money without seeking permission from the House of Assembly.

In response to the Opposition letter obtained by this news site dated May 1, 2015 Governor Duncan wrote, "I have noted your request for Honourable Myron V. Walwyn to vacate his seat in the House of Assembly. However, as you are aware, the House of Assembly has been dissolved".

The governor continued in his response, "consequently, before I am able to consider your request further, I should be grateful if you can provide me and the other addressees with the evidence that demonstrates that the Member is in violation of the mentioned sections of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007".

It remains unclear if the Opposition has provided further evidence outside of cheques, treasury statements and trade licenses in response to Governor Duncan’s letter.

The controversial Education and Culture Minister, Hon Walwyn, had remained silent on the matter raised by the Opposition. It was also unearthed that his firm, Orion Law, had a direct relationship with the BVI Health Services Authority after Premier Smith lied to the public that it was indirectly via Zolfo Cooper.

Message to the Opposition

With his motive clearly to attack the Opposition as has been the norm, even in the House of Assembly where he has also spent much of his time bashing this news site, Hon Walwyn said to Hon Christopher, "District Two, you done switch before Mitch so I ain't studying you... I wouldn't waste my breath with you. I would leave you at the foot of the cross."

To Hon Fraser he said, "District Three we will deal with you this time, I know they kicked up about the voters' registration card because the dead people they had couldn't vote this time but we on to you this time and OJ Smith will take you out."

Throwing his darts at Hon Fahie, Walwyn said he found it amazing that people with the most indiscretion are the ones ‎who attack other people. "I can say I’ve been honest in all my dealings as a politician and as a businessman.... I can say with confidence that no member of the NDP has been sought after in relations to money laundering."

"But talk bring talk and I am going to tell you tonight that back in the days they used the same catering service on their campaign trail and they didn't pay their bill," Walwyn alleged.

Like all the others on the NDP slate present at last night’s rally, Walwyn declared that over the past three and half years the NDP led government has delivered and needs four to twelve more years to complete what they have started. "You cannot change the government every four years, you would not see any progress in the country, you need four to twelve years to get any work done."

Let the Opposition respond to what Hon. Walwyn said about them at the rally Wednesday night, about using his catering service while they were in; he said they would not even pay the high bill they ran up. He said he had even decided to let it slide but thanks to Hon. Ralph T. O'Neal who insisted that it be paid..."Talk bring Talk", so Talk That...

It is one thing when your supporters seem to get personal. It is another when would be political leaders seem to be getting too personal with those from other parties. I am fed up with this kind of behavior. Try to be an exemplary. Stop the negative campaigning. All this name calling does not serve us. Stop the self-serving BS! Stick to the issues. If you are going to hammer away at your opponents, stick to the facts. Stop the mud-slinging. I don't want to hear any more of this nit-picking. You might be well-intended, but, your grandma will be the first to tell you, the path to hell is paved with nothing but good intentions.

All you politicians, NP, VIP, PEP, or Independent I for one expect that you will behave in an honorable manner. Anything short of that is a blatant disservice to the people. It is also disrespectful, not only to your opponents but also to what your party supposed to stand for, as well. It should an affront to to those in your party not behaving like this, and they should chide you. Be accountable for your behavior!!

I agree with your comment, but I'll add this. I believe that each politician has the best interest of the country at heart, they all just differ in the moral, values and methods of seeing their vision through. With that said, politicians are voted for based on their character as an individual...or so it should be. That's why I too have a problem with the (as you say) 'mud-slinging'. In my eyes, it says more about you than it does the person who it's intended to hit. So I pray that they stop and/or do not partake in this kinda dirty campaigning because persons, myself included, will be turned off by it.

And to think that plans are already in place to make him CHIEF when the Doc. steps down. We will all be told after the election. The dead will rise and the lame will walk down the hill to have a "few words" with Dr. Smith.

I thought this kind of talks about the honorable man was done with. So since some slaves came here first or live here longest mean they're indigenous? I know the answer but am afraid some of us don't know what indigenous means. I do not support the shouting because he does not have to shout. I do not support the name calling for it belittles him. His record for the past four years is quite impressive and will stand for him a beacon. There are a few people I will suppor on the government side and Mr. Walwyn stands way above them all bar non. This is not political I give Jack his jacket.

We like to speak what we don't know. We got blacklisted for lack of providing information in relation to the international business companies operating in the BVI with a nexus to France. Nothing to do with BVI nationals or members of the HOA.

If you people look good how the candidates were called last night, that should tell you something. Enough said. People take heed, look at their attitudes last night, these set of people are a rude awakening. Do not have regrets, do not be sorry my people of the BVI, vote VIP all the way. They continue to boast about the cruise pier but what they are not saying, is that ships can only dock on one side of it at present. They are a bunch of set ups and they are setting us up for a great fall. Do not be fooled, all is not well within the NDP camp, don't mind they trying to fool you in public that they are together, they are not, they are a set of disgruntled men fighting down one another

Ah wah kine ah tark mi ah hear here. It sound like tark mi hear dung en de Mud (Grays Farm) across from King George Park on de block in Wadadli. It sound like silly child's play on the school play ground. If Walwyn cannot stand a little heat in the kitchen he needs to get out.

Walwyn brought the bright lights on herself. All he had to do was do like Marlon Penn and seek permission to cater to the HOA. In fact the right thing to do was not cater to the HOA to avoid the perception. The same thing should have happen with being a subcontractor for Zolfo Cooper who had a contract with BVIHSA, a statutory body and government agency regardless of AG'e ruling. Did Walwyn's Orion Law had contract with the BVIHSA, inspite of the Premier's statement to the contrary? Did he dodge a constitution violation bullet with abrupt dissolvement of the HOA?

@ Cuban - Are you racist or what? I am from here (my mother came here small with her parents from St. Kitts and my father was born here) and what I would like to ask you is "Where are you from?" Mr. Walwyn was BORN HERE whether his parents were born elsewhere. So are you racist or what? Mr. Walwyn, don't bother to remind them where you were born. All those who like to talk about who from "the island" and say "go back where you come from" need to bear in mind that there is one heaven, and if they really want to make it in, they better be "born again"...If they aren't "born again", then the question I have to ask them is "which heaven are you going to?" If you say you love God (who you can't see but believe in him because of what He has done for you and because He is real in your soul), why should you be even capable of speaking such discriminatory language about anyone, regardless of their lineage? You must "Be Born Again!"

@observer Seems like you have misinterpreted what Cuban stated. As a matter of fact, you seem to be in agreement with him on the issue of indigenous. I don't see why you are calling him a racist. Is it because he talks about slaves?! The truth is the truth. Talking about the fact that most of the people here and in other parts of the Caribbean are descendants of slaves is the historical fact.

Seemingly, you are identifying yourself with Christianity but you seem to be ignorant of or conveniently forget that Jesus said My kingdom is not of this world. So I don't know why you are talking about religion. Furthermore, when you asked "which heaven are you going to" makes it seem like you know for sure that you are one of the elect, that you definitely will end up in heaven. Ego? Demonstrating one of the 10-Deadly sins? From a Christian standpoint, you are bearing false witness because that individual did not say anything discriminatory or false by pointing out that the majority of people here had slave ancestors who were brought from Africa in order to say that there some misinterpret the term indigenous. He/she is so correct.

Please try to understand what you read, and please do not impose you personal belief on others. Not good, undemocratic. The constitution of the BVI is built around democracy;not theocracy.
