ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – At-Large Representative in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has revealed that at the time of crossing into the opposition from the Unity Government in June 2022, he also did so to not appear as a rogue member of the Government.

Speaking on a February 2, 2023, episode of 'The Big Story', Hon Malone revealed that the decision to cross the floor might also have been a government and party decision and not a completely personal one as he previously stated.

“We had to make sure that the information that was needed to be imparted was done without disturbing the particular caucus of the government, because we did not want to make it look as if the Unity Party had a member who was rogue,” he added.

Hon Malone detailed that in order to get certain information out to the public, he had no choice but to cross the floor to ask questions.

“In my view it could only have been done the way it was done, in terms of from the opposition side where the questions could be asked, answers given, answers dissected and now we can move forward into making sure that we do whatever is possible to move our country forward,” he said.

C. Geoffrey Cox  report still needed - Hon Malone

He further detailed that the report created by Sir C. Geoffrey Cox KC on the Commission of Inquiry is still needed to get the full picture of the inquiry.

Sir Cox KC, a British barrister, Member of the UK Parliament, and former UK Attorney General, was the lead attorney for Withers Law during its representation of the VI Government before the CoI.

“We still do not have the Cox report, we need that, we still don't have it,” Hon Malone detailed while adding that if the VI Government is going to correct the ills in the county, then the full picture must be seen.

“We are only going correct some of the ills of governance, whether from the side of the Governor or the Minister or the public officials or the general public if we know all the facts," he said.

“We cannot get just one side of the details, one side of the story and think that we can correct all of what is needed to be corrected,” he added.

To question your own government you have to cross the floor? If you did not you would appear rogue? So what did you appear to be once you crossed the floor? ROGUE! Rogue means breach of trust charges, right? I have never come across more folly among grown men in my life. Folly.

At his rightful place , he was the architect of the resurrection of the VIP and has been VIP throughout his entire career . It is the others that have been grasshoppers . BTW some folks seems to think I am the Hon. Malone. If you have been paying careful attention the Honorable member has been using his time constructively on educating the people on the nuances and dangerous implications of the COI outcome , not focusing on blogs . Hon. Malone for Chairman.

These are the kind of behaviour we should be judging people on,. Their actions, their honesty. their compassion,. They are good while and bad white and there are good black and bad black,,. It's being black people being over our affairs and our economy for as long 30 yrs are more and they are the one accountable to us, they are the one we praise when in the 80's 90's we were rated the strongest economy in the world per population... Now at the turn of start of the 20's things start changing.. From 2007 things start going down under Ralph VIP,. I always see Ralph as the weakest most thin skin leader we ever had, he had no control over his VIP party, Frazer,. Omar, Andrew,. Whenever anyone try to talk about the wrongs he takes it personal and victimizes and oppress people,, so VIP and NDP are the ones put us where we are at,more so VIP, it's not the white man..the white men came and show us how we have been played and taken advantage of and by who..We have to thank those good white men for opening up our eyes to see the evil of our bad blacks .

He should be chosen as the Chairman. How can someone be chosen Chairman of the VIP but want to continue with Unity government? You cant serve 2 leaders and you cant have 1 foot in one party and the other foot in a different party. The Premier as expressly stated is desire. Hon. Malone is the rightful leader of the VIP
