MIAMI, Florida, USA- A team from the Virgin Islands (VI) led by Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development, Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE, (AL) attended Consensus by CoinDesk in Miami, Florida, from May 5 to 7, 2026.

Consensus by CoinDesk has been the most influential event in digital assets and financial technology since 2015. This annual event is where experts from across the industry’s ecosystem—executives, policymakers, investors, developers, disruptors, and more.

This year, BVI Finance returned to the event as a sponsor. According to BVI Finance, its sponsorship reaffirmed the VI’s commitment to supporting innovation, digital assets, and the continued evolution of global finance.

The team occupied Booth 1514, where they promoted the products, services, and expertise of the BVI’s financial services industry to a global audience of innovators, investors, and decision-makers.

Chief Executive Officer of BVI Finance, Ms Elise Donovan, said, “Conferences like Consensus are essential for jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands because they place us at the centre of the conversations shaping the next era of finance.”

She added that digital assets and FinTech are no longer emerging concepts but are now central to the way global markets are evolving.

“The BVI has a powerful story to tell, and Consensus gives us the opportunity to showcase the strength, sophistication, and innovation of our industry to the world.”
